My FI thinks he wants a fish as a groomsmen cake, and although it looks pretty cool...I want other ideas too! I need inspiration. Even if you haven't had it made yet, maybe you have a picture of what it will look like!

    Thanks ladies :)

our baker said it was her first too.  Some of the fondant wasnt that smooth, but I was the only one who noticed that...the boys didnt care.

Wow, she did a great job for it being her first. Are those m&m's on the cake? Looks like it - very cool touch!

Here's the penguin cake I made for my husband!

He ended up meeting his fate at the bottom of the trash can because my cake-cutting aunts just couldn't cut into him.  Also, a lot of people didn't even know it was cake!

I love the grooms cake.  I was going to do one for my FI but he recently told me he didn't want one.  Bummer.

He's a diehard fan of our NFL team, since he was a youngin'. We're season ticket holders and die hard tailgaters so...
I'm going to surprise the FI with a real size NFL Throwback Helmet of our fave team.

The best part? The throwback helmet's our wedding colors, coincidentally! Teehee.

@Gerbera: How cool!! Lifesize..wow, that'll be neat. I wouldn't want to mess it up because it'd be so pretty :)

I just recently saw a wedding on a photographer's blog nearby that were die-hard Auburn fans & their wedding colors were Auburn's colors, it was insane! & even though I'm an Alabama fan, I still thought it was pretty cool :)

FYI - no fancy groom's cake needed - a simple Midnight Delight cake from Cold Stone creamery will WIN YOUR GUESTS OVER!

They wen't straight for that one, and it was GONE in a flash. Their reaction to that ice cream cake put our actual wedding cake to shame!!!

I'm totally serious. I never thought it would be such a hit but that's the cake everybody went for! I couldn't believe it!

I could have saved a couple hundred bucks and just bought a jumbo sized ice cream cake. No one asked where we got our wedding cake, but everyone wanted to know who made the ice cream one.

I didn't think I wanted to do this but I keep watching amazing wedding cakes on TV so now I'm pretty sure I want to.  I want the cake for the rehearsal dinner.  Maybe I should go to cake alchemy here in NYC and see how much they are, how cool would that be?

This is the cake that Publix makes that I think we may do.  We are doing a publix wedding cake so also getting a grooms sheet cake to go with it is cheap and easy.  I am going to ask that the blue piping around the edges be green so it matches our wedding colors a little bit better.

My FI's brother had a fish grooms cake at his wedding (their last name is troutman, haha) and it was red velvet cake so it looked like the fish was bleeding. The guys loved it, the bride not so much

He picked a carved out Puma logo (his last name is Puma!).  The icing will be buttercream in the Italian flag colors since he's all Italian.  The flavor is chocolate Andes mint.  He picked everything and is super excited!

@Mrs2theDr: Such a cute idea! My friend had the Jayhawk guy as her groom's cake and it was AWESOME! Not a doctor though, although now that I think about it the guy is in med school now- how funny! Anyway I saved a picture of the cake so if you wanted to see how it turned out let me know and I'll send you a pic.
