CO to VT Bride September 24, 2011

Wondering if anyone had success with and recommendations for:

(1) A great wedding band;

(2) A photographer;

(3) On-site hair and makeup

I'm getting married at the Basin Harbor Club in Vergennes, VT at the end of September 2011.

My good friend (and amazing photographer) is doing our photos. She lives in Denver but travels to VT often.

Im getting my hair and make up done on site by the Chop Shop.

My band is coming in from NJ - not so sure about VT bands...

and I LOVE Basin Harbor - I grew up directly across the lake from there :)

@TerraWellness:I'm also from the Denver area and I'm getting married in Stowe VT in September 2011. I'm wondering if anyone has heard anything about the Stowehof Inn for receptions. It looks really nice online, but I've never been there in person.

I have driven by Stowehof, but never been inside.

My favorite place in Stowe is the Green Mountain Inn. So cozy.

Unless you have a really open budget, in which case, Stoweflake or Stowe Mountain Resort are excellent choices.

@autumnsmommy: Thank you. I think I'm going with Stowehof. I also saw heard TONS of great things about Marion Peer from Vermont Sweet Tooth for wedding cakes. I'm so excited to start REALLY planning.

Hey girls, I was wondering if anyone knows of a great inexpensive florist. I've been looking online, but no one has prices. I just saw a bridal bouquet for $250.00 and I couldn't believe it, but this is my first time, so I'm not sure what's normal.

@CO to VT Bride: I too love Basin Harbor! My sister lives in Vergennes.....such a cute place! I am getting married in Stowe but my photographer who I love is out of Vergennes. His name is Doug Todd. His website is www.dtpwedding.com He is a bit quirky and did a lot of commerical work in Brooklyn....he just recently relocated to VT. His prices are very reasonable. You should totally check him out.

I don't have any suggestions for a band personally but my friend recommend the Phil Abair Band. They are out of Burlington I think. they were a little over my budget so we are going with a DJ but you might want to check them out.

I don't know of any hair places... when I was in my sisters wedding like 10 years ago, I got my hair done somewhere on main street in vergennes....but that was a while ago!

Depending on your budget - I would go with Daria Bishop photography - I absolutely FELL IN LOVE with their work and if I had the money I would've gone with them - TOTALLY!

I am also using Chop Shop Hair Design for onsite hair and make up.

I do not know of any good local wedding bands - I have heard of that Phil Abair is pretty good!

I think the Stowehof is nice, but it is a little small, as is the Green Mountain Inn - their reception rooms are broken up with dinner in one room and dancing down a little hallway in another room - but Whip and their guest rooms are beautiful!

I am getting married at The Stoweflake and they actually have me the best price - but our final three choices were Basin Harbor Club, The Stoweflake and The Essex (in that order) but we went with the place that gave us the best bang for buck!!

Daria Bishop is absolutely amazing. I would have LOVED to have her as our photographer....but yeah, not in the budget.

As it stands, I am happy to help our a dear friend's blossoming business. She has an amazing eye and a talent for making people look amazing.
