We are having an outdoor wedding. I was originally going to rent an arch, but the ones I’ve found are all just ugly. My church has some pillar stands I was going to use to sort of frame the “altar”, but I’m not sure what to put on them. I don’t really want to do the typical wedding oversized flower arrangements. I’m not opposed to flowers, just wanted something a little different. Any ideas or pictures?

What about big pillar candles, or baskets with mini tissue paper poms? Or, if the other flowers in your decorations are very arranged and polished, so some wildflowers (or vice versa). Or wine bottle hurricane lamps?

I plan on DIYing this for my outdoor ceremony:

@YSQueen:Wow. That’s amazing, I can’t imagine taking that on!

I made these manzanita trees…they are about 6′ tall and I am going to use one on each side….I will be having an evening wedding so I plan on wrapping lights around the branches (just threw them on to get an idea of what it would look like)

I don’t know what kind of venue you have, but these are some of my favourite ideas for my own wedding:

I was just going to suggest that same idea! I think using rented potted trees and wrapping them in lights/paper decorations/pomanders could be gorgeous!

I’m having the same issue. I thought about the rocks forming a circle, but I’m not sure it’s us (my FH and I). I was thinking of doing petals with candles forming a circle instead of the rocks and an antique table for our stuff so it’s just something classic and timeless. Then I thought maybe a boulder, but I’m sure Yosemite (our venue) will not allow us to move any boulders for sake of a ceremony. My FH and I both love the great outdoors so I want to figure out a way to have an elegant altar that’s organic or as organic as possible to our venue. I’m still at the drawing board. Hopefully other bees have ideas we can borrow and make our own.
