This might be a dumb question, since I know it is easier to take a dress in, then let it out. However, when measuring myself I am about a 6 and the dress I am thinking of getting would be a size 10 (used dress). It is chiffon mostly. Can it be done? I’m hoping to get a break on the dress by buying it used, but am also wondering how much alterations would be……..I know I need to find a seamstress, but have you had your dress altered down 2 sizes? I do believe, from my own experience when buying my gown and from what I’ve seen on this forum, that the wedding gowns tend to run very small and lots of times you’ll have to buy a gown in a laerger than normal size. My gown was 1 size bigger than my regular size, and I’ve heard of brides having gowns 2 sizes bigger than normal.
I think you’ll be ok, maybe try it on to see exactly how loose it is first.

i normally hear the limit is two sizes to go down, as any more then that and you loose the integrity of the dresses cut.
from the looks of it that dress will be a bit of a pain to take in becasue of all the pleats in it but that doesnt mean it isnt doable.
i’d suggest you take the photos you have to several locations and find out what they think, and get quotes from them.

I’m betting you won’t even need to take it in. Most gowns tend to run small. I’ve seen girls that have been a size 2 and had to buy a size 8 or 10 gown…you should really try the dress on or get your measurements and the measurements of the dress before buying.

well I have my measurements and the dress size chart and it puts me around the size 6, although when i tried it on in the store, the lady estimated a size 8. But, I want to get it preowned, so that complicates things.
