Hi Ladies, I have a question about alterations. I orderd my dress to come in a size smaller then recommended as i had planned to lose some weight before my wedding. I have just under a year and think i can lose about 15-20lbs.
My problem is, the dress fits now and im worried that if i lose weight it wont be able to altered to fit.
Does anyone know how many sizes a dress can be reduced by or have any experience with this?
This is me in the sample as I have read that the style of a dress is important

My dress was just altered down about 4 sizes. You should be fine. I lost 33lbs since I bought my dress.

My understanding is that pretty much any dress can be altered down 2 sizes and possibly more. I hope so because I bought a sample that’s at least two sizes too big!
You look really pretty, by the way 🙂

I’ve always been told they can alter most dresses down two sizes.

@Bookaholic: most dresses can be altered a couple of sizes down. Just keep in mind that the more dramatic the size change the higher the cost of alterations. They may need to deconstruct the dress so things like the neckline, cups and beading are proportional and aligned correctly.
Yay for getting healthy!! There’s nothing like all eyes and cameras on us to motivate our butts into gear 😀

I had my dress altered down about 2 sizes on the top and a size on the bottom. It fit like a glove, but cost an extra $600.
