I am pretty sure I am going to get my dress altered by an independent seamstress or alterations store, rather than my expensive bridal salon where I got my dress.
I have some major work to do on the dress (a-line to mermaid, bra cup rounding out, pads added, hem, bustle, hips taken out, buttons added down the back, etc.) and the dress was not only expensive, but is also a very delicately and intricately beaded lace.
I want to make a few alterations consultation appointments and get several quotes/opinions. Is this normal or does the first place you go expect you to leave your dress there on the spot and use their services? I’m new at this and not sure how to deal with the different seamstresses and let them know (without really saying all this) that I am not ready to just leave my dress with them now and that I need to shop around and think about it.
Any advice wouls be much appreciated!!
