MrsEH:  It was good of her to step up and order you a new dress. That most certainly is going to cost her money and so it should. That is an incredible mistake for a professional seamstress to make!

I would thank her when the dress comes in, but I would not take it back to her for alterations. I doubt she will be surprised.

MrsEH:  does she still work for this particular salon? Is there another seamstress at this salon that you could request instead? Because if I were you, I wouldn’t feel comfortable trusting your dress to her again…by that point there won’t be enough time to just reorder a new dress.

How the crap does this happen so often? I swear, it seems like every day we see another alterations disaster on the bee!

If surgeries went bad as often as wedding dress alterations seem to, jeez, we’d all be dead.

I mean, I can’t believe it… 8 inches too short!!! It’s one thing to be off by half an inch or something!

So sorry and sad this happened to you.  🙁

Glad they are taking responsibility and without provocation.

Venting is one of the reasons we are all here.

That’s awful. I’m sorry you have to go through that. But thankfully there is still a little time before your wedding and she is trying to right her wrong. I would not blame you for never taking your dress back there (to that salon or to the seamstress), but at the same time I doubt they would make such a mistake twice. It all depends on how reputable they are. Either way, what matters is that you are happy and stress free; so if you will feel more comfortable going elsewhere, do it! You can’t worry about how everyone else will feel.

I’d be soooo pissed. Don’t take t back to her. i don’t think you have to explain yourself to them for not wanting her to touch your dress again. So sorry this happened to you :/

Wow, what an incredible mistake. This woman should not be working as a seamstress..

Good luck.
