I rec Clara Couture.  My dress is Vera Wang Luxe and is seriously overflooding with tulle layers, total of 16 excluding the undergarments+ heavy on elaborate patterns. Since I was out of time and couldn’t get the alteration done in la, I brought back to vancouver. I looked up a lot of seamstresses in vancouver until I took it to her.

I was scared at first in case the dress didn’t turn out like how vera wang seamstresses would do. But despite my paranoia, Clara was absolutely amazing and did a very clean job in a matter of one week, where as the vera wang boutique called for 4 weeks.  She even put a french bustle onto my dress very nicely and I just can’t wait to walk around in the dress.

Pricewise, very very reasonable as well.  VW called $875+, while Clara only charged me 450 for my tulle heavy and cathedral length dress.

FutureMrsvDavis:  There are a bunch of wedding dress shopps and alterations places on Columbia street in New West. I got my dress altered at the store where I bought it.

mildlybookish:  Thanks – I’m in Vancouver though so it would be a pain to head over there for alterations – I also found New West was more expensive than the bridal salons in the Hastings bridal row.

I got a quote from where I bought my dress (in Abbotsford!) but I wanted to compare, especially since I’m pretty sure they talked me into ordering a size up so that they’d get my business for alterations.

FutureMrsvDavis:  No worries. I used to live in the New West area, so those were the ones that I used and were most familiar with.
