If you can get your money back for this dress, you might consider doing so and then buying a dress off the rack or from a consignment store. That way, you could have the new one immediately.
If not, are there any independent seamstresses in your area? I know there are ones in both DC and Boston who get uniformly rave reviews and are much less expensive than the salons. I'd be inclined to use one of them, if there is such a person in your area.
If they ordered the wrong size then they'll have to take it back. Did they take your measurements properly?
They can't just totally order the wrong thing then expect you to take it!
@BerryBerry: This.
If they ordered the wrong size based on your measurements, that's totally not your fault unless you signed a contract agreeing to that size. BUT!!! Make them measure the dress and compare it to the size chart as well....there have been cases where dresses have been accidentally mismarked!! In that case, the manufacturer is responsible for rushing you a new one.
They ordered it based on my measurements, the girl showed me a chart and pointed out what size I was in the bust, hips and waist and then said they should order a size 14, because of my measurements and because the sample was a 12 but was stretched out from being tried on. Made sense at the time but when it came in, I expected the bust to be too big, the waist a little, maybe 1", too big and the hips to fit. Instead I got a bust and cups that are too big but by some strange grace of god it does up perfectly and the rest just hangs. The waist and hips are easily 2-3" too big, I could step out of it without undoing it. Something is seriously wrong with it. I didn't think to check the label to see what size it actually is when I was in the store, I was too much in shock at how big it was I think, but I will make a point to do that next time I go back.
@omgsprinkles: Thanks for suggesting that, I never would have thought to see if they sent the right size!

My dress came in last week and they ordered me a dress 6 SIZES TOO BIG!! It literally hangs off me! I can step in and out of it without undoing it.. What do I do? It needs to be altered but do I go somewhere else as I'm not sure I trust this store anymore? Do I suck it up and have them do it? It's too late to order another one.. Help!
