    Hi weddingbees!

I just bought my dream dress Amy Michelson Grace as a sample and it needs to be altered and pressed. My bridal salon is charging me $500 for the alterations and $100 for the pressing of the dress.

Does anyone have a good tailor that they can recommend that can do alterations and dress pressing?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!

Thanks and have a great day!

TK Tailoring in Long Beach has gotten rave reviews on Yelp and elsewhere. They're reasonably priced and do quick work. I would've gone to them if my dress needed alterations, so I'm not exactly speaking from experience either. Good luck!

My shop is only charging $35 for a bustle and $35 for pressing. I don't know if she does outside dresses though: House of Brides in Torrance.

If you live in or around San Fernando Valley, Renee from In Stitches Alterations is great!  She's in Woodland Hills.  I couldn't recommend her enough.  She's affordable and very honest with her opinion on what looks best on you and for you dress.

Oh MY GOSH!!! I LOVE that dress!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I really really wanted it so badly, but I think it is out of my budget. If you don't mind can you please tell me where you purchased it and for how much? I'm in love with that dress ever since I saw the picture in the magazine.

You will look beautiful! I just know it.

Thanks Meliss, I will check those out. I'm a little nervous about buying it used, but I don't mind the face that it's used just don't to be scammed. I appreciate it. It's def worth at look see! Have you ever been to the Glamour Closet in LA? I wanted to check that place out. I heard some good things about it.

Yup, I've been to everywhere in LA including Glamour Closet :) I almost bought a second dress there (Vera Wang) but when I posted pics of it the Bees overwhelmingly preferred my original dress (Lazaro) so I stuck with it. They're a nice store but small selection, and the inventory is always changing so it's a coin toss.

@mblove - Sorry to highjack your thread. My bridal salon (Mon Amie) quoted me $500+ too. I plan to go with Renee as @msqthoney suggested. I've also heard great things about Mahtab in OC. You can find her contact info and reviews on Project Wedding.

Yea I can't believe Mon Amie wants 500 for their alterations. I'm going to try those two places you that were suggested. I never realized that we'd have to add alteration costs to the dress! I got some good advice from your post mblove!

@mireisen: I found a TK Tailoring in Huntington Beach not Long Beach. Is that the same one? They have a corny website but I am in need of excellent affordable alterer as well.

I purchased my dress (a bridesmaid's dress in ivory) and had it tailored at George's Bridal in West L.A.  It's a small family-owned business that's been there for many years.  Might be worth contacting for a quote.  I was very satisfied with my experience, granting that tailoring my gown was much less complex!
