In Newport Village in Port Moody there’s a lady named Elena (Werner & Elena Tailoring & Alternation 604-461-1192) who did a fantastic job on my friend’s wedding dress. She’s altered many bridesmaid dresses for me, pants for my FI and will be doing my wedding dress next year. She’s not super pricy but not overly cheap either. She is very good though! Good luck!

Anyone have recommendations for a Vancouver seamstress or dressmaker?

I used a woman who lives near me to do my alterations. Her name is Betty but she doesn’t have a website and her English isn’t that great (she’s cantonese speaking). She was super inexpensive..and pretty popular! When I went for my first fitting she had a gaggle of 8 girls coming in to do custom bridesmaids dresses.

My aunt alters bridesmaid dresses for a reasonable price of $50-100.
She’s been a seamstress for more than 30 years working in Hong Kong making wedding dresses, bridesmaid dresses, clothing etc. When she moved to Vancouver, BC many many many years ago, she worked in sewing factories and is now working at a shop in Richmond, altering clothing that people purchase.

Looks like I can not get back to Toronto for the many alterations appointments before the wedding. Any recommendations for Vancouver? I fly to Toronto to pick up my dress late August, but will have to bring it back to Vancouver for alterations. Wedding in October.

I’m getting my dress and my bridesmaid dresses altered at Clara Couture on Burrard and Broadway. I have heard really great things about her.

I did mine at Angeline Bridal in Burnaby – AMAZING WORK!

Just wondering how you made out at Clara Couture and if you would reccomend using them for wedding dress alterations. Also, if you dont mind me asking how did you find thier rates?

@jmmacdon: Yay! I just got my dress there and I plan to have my alterations done there too. I really liked Angelina and her prices were AWESOME on the dress.

I just got me dress back from Angeline Bridal….and it’s perfect! I went there because of the positive messages I’ve seen on Yelp and here (although not a lot on either) and because I purchased my dress online and not too many bridal stores will do alterations on other dresses. But Angeline is amazing! Great price, and she knows what she’s doing! I have a full lace dress (allure 8764) and lace alterations are always hard. But Angeline was great…if you need something altered, go there!!

I’m getting mine done at Golden Bridal there on the “wedding strip” as I call it on columbia in New West. The lady was super nice and gave me great deals on my dress, accessories and alterations. I’ve heard such good reviews on them and I found the dress of my dreams! Check them out!

@MrsBtobe: Hi there, may i have your seamstress’ contact details?

Got mine done at Lilianne’s Bridal
Her price is very resonable; and she is very professional. Mine was less than $200 with taking in chest and dress length. She put in buttons for bustles too. However, if your wedding date is still a long while and you bring it in early, she will not have it done as promised. She told me 4 weeks, but didn’t have it done after 7 weeks.. which is still 2 weeks before my wedding, but I would like to have things done earlyl!!!
