MrsJuly14:  I wouldn’t get started now if your weight is changing. Wait until your done with that, or until the last possible change. My cousin ended up having to gain weight back the week before her wedding to fit into her dress! 

Also, cost can range anywhere from $50-$500 it just depends how much you want done or how complicated your bustle is.

I’d ask the seamstress you plan on using how long she needs to complete alterations. For instance, at my shop our seamstresses meet with brides three times and we usually space it out by a couple of weeks (since they’re working on many dresses at once), so we recommend 6-8 weeks for alterations. But your seamstress may not be working on very many dresses at any given time, and may say she only needs to see you three weeks before the wedding. Best thing to do is to check in with her and her schedule; you’d hate to start way earlier than you need and then see your body continue to change, or wait till the last minute and have a rushed or sloppy job.
