Where in RI would be convenient for you? I know a few great tailors on both sides of the bay.
I love Carmella Vieira in Bristol. She works miracles for a pittance. She does alterations on just about anything, and being that she has a bridal section in her shop, she is especially adroit with gowns. As I understand it, she does alter "outside" gowns, so I wouldn't worry.
578 Metacom Ave, Bristol, in the Bell Tower Plaza. It's about 20/25 minutes from Providence.

I'm looking for someone to hem my dress. It is super plain but it is lined which is aparently what makes it more difficult. I only need it taken up about an inch or 2, does anyone know a good seamstress in RI? I have never had anything altered other than pants hemmed and I just went to a generic tailor for that. I bought the dress (it'S my reception dress) from Ann Taylor and they do not do alterations so taking it where I bought it is not an option. Thanks!
