wondering if you had any luck with finding someone to alter your dress. I'm in the same situation and I don't know where to look :(

Nope, but I think there was a thread I found on the NYC board from a few months ago. Also one of the past NYC bees had a post on this. She wrote about Ann Hamilton, Glenda of Manhattan and one other that I can't remember.

I found this company Catalina & Co. They did an amazing job on my dress and were really reasonable I am so excited they even picked me up at the train in westchetser for my appt.

You may wish to check out Maria Cleaners & Tailoring in Staten Island. She did my wedding and the bridemaids and is known around for gowns. She is a sweet Italian Seamstress - they are all from Italy there. The craftsmanship is worth the trip to Staten Island. They are located on Jewett Avenue.
