I paid 250 for cups, bustle and velcro added sewn in on the inside of my bra and inside of my dress and she took in the sides slightly/ She also wanted to do my hem but I said no. I thought she would reduced the cost of the alterations since she didnt so the hem but she didnt and I was just to tired to argue.  But I think it was way to much

Total cost for alteration – $358.  That includes bra cups, taking it it at the bust & waist, bustle, steaming the dress before the wedding and a custom made sash.

Ours were under $100.  However, we went to an independent seamstress who works out of her home (and has stellar reviews), rather than to a tailor shop or bridal salon.

My alterations were $225. I took them to my seamstress, rather than at having it done at the bridal store. This included having cups sewn in, the bust taken in, and hemming of my many layers. I didn’t have a bustle put in.

My BM took her dress to the same person and had cups sewn in, the boning removed, bust taken in, and got it hemmed for $40.

LOL. The title of this thread reminds me of the Friends episode where Joey recommends a tailor to Chandler who has to get some pants tailored… LOL

My alteration are going to cost just shy of $400.00. BOO.

$330 at the first salon, in Orange, CA, for:

    • Bra cups
    • Taking in the sides
    • Bustle
    • Hemming
    • Adding an elastic band

Because of what they did wrong and refused to acknowledge, I had to go to another salon a week before my wedding and spend more money on alterations.  (If anyone is interested in the details, see: http://boards.weddingbee.com/topic/alterations-distress-courtesy-of-ferndales-bridal)

@Lida: I applaud your diligence in taking time to read reviews first before deciding where to get your alterations done.

The place I bought my dress has a flat fee of $450, but I got my alterations for free by buying the dress on a promotion day. Every place I checked out in LA had a flat fee of $450-$500.
