So I called and made my appointment to get my dress altered. She gave me an appointment date of October 6th…
That’s 28 days before my wedding!
Granted, I need minimal work done but she doesn’t know that. She asked me when my wedding date was and I told her and that was the date she gave me. I asked her twice, “Are you sure that’s enough time to get it done?” She assured me each time that it was. All I am having done is the bustle, having cups put in, and having a little length taken up. This is the lady that my bridal boutique referred too and she has a great reputation but I am so nervous.
Is this normal?

@future_mrs_sommer: I thought normally you have 3 appointmets (6 weeks, 4 weeks, 2 weeks). I would trust her judgement unless you know you need the dress taken in or the dress has a lot of beading/lace.

It doesn’t have a lot of beading and no lace. And it fits like a glove other than the minor alterations of the length, bustle and adding cups. It just didn’t sound right to me.

I only had one appointment about a month out from our wedding day, and it worked out just fine!

I don’t think it should be an issue then. Shortening a dress is usually pretty simple (the only time it isn’t is when there is beading/lace on the bottom or if it has a lot of layers).

What is considered a lot of layers. I probably have 4-5 layers under there…I’m not even really sure. I just know it’s a bitch to get in to. Lol

I had mine altered in 9 days. Depends on the place, and I’d call ahead!

It depends on how much other work she has. If she doesn’t have a lot of other dresses completing for her him, than 28 days is definitely enough time!

Hmm I was told to start alterations 2 months ahead. But if you need minimal work maybe that will be ok? If you are really worried call her back an ask if you can come earlier just to be sure?
