@ebarnes0:  I guess that just depends on the shop – I bought my sample gown in August and they kept it until my fittings this month. I’ll pick it up next week for my portraits and then take it back to them to hold onto until the wedding in April.  They had no problem being my storage unit! 🙂 Hopefully your dress shop will be willing to do the same

@ebarnes0:  Totally depends on the shop. I went in for an ’emergency’ fitting last month when I discovered I gained a bit of happy weight and my dress wouldn’t go over my hips lol. 🙂 The seamstress and owner of the bridal shop offered to keep the dress until I needed to start coming in for fittings in March/April-ish. I was prepared to take it home and she insisted they store it for me so I didn’t need to worry about it.

yeah, it depends on the shop. my bridal shop doesn’t start on alterations until about 2 months before the wedding, so they kept my dress from the time it arrived (in april) until 2 days before my wedding (in september). i wasn’t really given the option of bringing it home sooner, which was fine with me.

@ebarnes0:  My dress is from DB.  It came in in 10 days.  I’ve had it since early october for my May wedding.  It’s in the back of my closet.  I’ll have to bring it back in for alterations.

My bridal shop is holding mine since I live right nearby with my fiance and we don’t want him seeing it on accident. My mom lives 30+ minutes away, so it just didn’t make sense to keep it at her house.
