Absolutely can be done! I had a full ball gown skirt taken down to a slim A Line by the FMIL who actually makes dresses for very plus sized women. She usually works with patterns but she figured it out. Final dress fitting is Sunday and I can't wait to snap some pics to post! Be tickled with your dress, all the married Bees say it's important even after the wedding.

Hi, bees! Just wondering if anyone has ever attempted to alter an a-line skirt to a mermaid/trumpet skirt. I got my dress and I absolutely love it, but I am a little disappointed that I didn't get the mermaid/trumpet skirt that I still love and adore.
I was thinking that when I go in for my first alterations appointment that I could ask the seamstress if it is at all possible to alter my dress in this way. If not, no big deal, I still like the dress. The dress has two flat side seams and none in the front or back, so I'm not sure how well it would work.
What do you think? I've attached a picture of the dress to this post. Thanks!
