My fiance and I are getting married at a vineyard. We will not be having a bartender but I saw some cute ideas on Pinterest where people put their beer, water, etc. in an old canoe filled with ice for guests to serve themselves. I wanted to do something similar but cannot find a canoe or anything else along those lines anywhere (our budget is also VERY small). What are some alternate ideas for clever containers to hold our beverages over ice? Anything we may be able to find for cheap/free is best.

What about window flower boxes? that could be cute and there are a million different ones out there or if you are crafty you could decorate?
I am actually using a flower box filled with rocks and sticking sternos in them as a DIY s’mores bar at my wedding later in the night.

Go on Craigslist and find an old dresser and use the drawers; I saw that on a wedding blog and it was so cool!

Check out this barrel drink cooler! It would go with the vineyard theme and the cost for 2 or 3 wouldn’t be outrageous. I actually want one for my deck!

The dresser idea looks cool but that would leak ice everywhere. I recommend only putting ice in containers meant for ice or water or else lining it really well with plastic.

how about asking the vineyard if you can borrow some old wine barrels?

I saw an old wheel barrow too which I thought was neat (and will keep the ice colder than wooden things)

You can line any container with a children’s vinyl swimming pool which you should be able to find at a reasonable price. The vinyl is thicker than sheet plastic and can take some wear without tear.
Check your local Craigslist Free secton to see what ideas you can come up with.

An old bathtub would be fun, but I imagine a bathtub could cost more than you are looking to spend

@reebee: Funny–this picture is actually from my friend Tracy’s wedding. I wasn’t there, but the pictures looked beautiful!

@julies1949: Great idea with the Craig’s free section–I just found some 1mm thick free plastic liner on there!
