I don't know about you but I tend to drip stuff on my cookboks so I would be just afraid of ruining it.
I think a cookbook would be really fun and original, especially with Caribbean recipes! I love it! If you're into signs, you might even say exactly what you told us - love to cook, want to be reminded of the day - so your guests can appreciate your originality! :)
In response to vyeta, just make sure you've got a quality cookbook stand that protects it from splashes! (Registry!!)
Congrats! The Bahamas sound great!
I think a fancy cookbook would be great. Sometimes they are practically coffee table books, with lots of photos of the area and of the food, and really nice glossy paper. My best cookbooks (which are like that) I generally scan and print the recipe page I want to use, because I am a messy cook, and want to keep the book nice. Its also a nice idea because it reflects something of your personality, since you like to cook. I think that as a guest, I would have lots of fun flipping through the book and finding a yummy sounding recipe to sign. You could even do something clever like scanning or printing up a recipe from the book to send out with your thank you notes!
I think the cookbook is a really nice idea!
If you find that it's not working for you but want to keep with the Bahamas theme think about postcards... we left postcards of Hawaii at our tables for our guests to write messages to us. My parents mailed them while we were in Hawaii on our honeymoon- by the time we got back they were waiting for us. It was a lot of fun to read them and also to look at all the pictures since we ended up visiting many of the places that were on the postcards!
I was going to do postcards and mail them from the Bahamas, but we figured that it was going to cost a lot for postage and then once we've read them, what do you do with them. Thank you for the suggestion though.
I don't want a traditional guestbook because I think it's something that I will never look at again, and will just be clutter in my house.
I think I'm going to go with the cookbook. Thanks girls!

I'm getting married in the Bahamas in less than 3 weeks!! YAY
I've heard of people using coffee table books of the destination that they are getting married as their guestbook, and I love photography, but can't find a book that I like, so I was thinking....
I really love cooking, and we could get a nice looking cookbook with all carribean/bahamas recipes...then everytime we made something from it, we would be reminded of our wedding, not only by the food, but by all the messages.
Would a cookbook be too weird?
