Lavender is becoming a popular choice because it smells wonderful when people crush it underfoot. We had played with the idea of making small poms (this is a big DIY project) , but you'd have to choose paper heavy enough to throw.
The lavender idea is a nice one. You could also do the eco-confetti (next time it rains or you water your lawn its dissolved). But if you like the sparkler idea, i'd say go with that. Thikn about fourth of july and kids... lots of 'em play with sparklers with no problems. I just wouldnt hand one to a sub-three year old.
if you're worried about fire hazard/kids, what about spray streamers? the arcs of color could look great for photos. i'm not sure about cost tho

help, hive!
We are looking for fun, exciting alternatives to birdseed/rice when we walk back down the isle
We tried sparklers, and decided we may light people on fire (kids are invited)
Bubbles=predictable, and kinda boring (we want something fun like the sparklers...)
No restrictions from the venue - our back yard!
any ideas???
