They could carry clutches. Or kissing balls. Or feather bouquets. Or paper parasols or fans if you are having a summer wedding. Fur muffs in winter.
Ive seen soo many alternatives to the flower bouquet. Pinwheels, a brooch bouquet, pomander ball bouquet, clutches..there are sooo many options out there
At a wedding I attended in August the bm's had black lace fans. The bride also had a fan and there were no flowers anywhere because she's highly allergic. As a guest I didn't notice or miss the lack of flowers.
If you do a google search on "non-floral weddings" you will find that there are many, MANY alternatives to flowers at weddings. I liked this one in particular: http://honeyoats22.blogspot.com/2011/07/non-floral-wedding-bridal-bouquets.html
I had a non floral wedding and used cotton and various wood and dried flowers as my "florals".
I have been in 2 weddings where there were feather bouquets used.... here is a pic of mine to show you how they photographed...
I think she just got the feathers from Hobby Lobby and got to it with a hot glue gun and a plastic base... they held up all night and I thought they turned out pretty cool!

My girls will be carrying satin clutches to match their dresses with flowers attached to them. I like this over the traditional bouquet because it will be cheaper, and sometimes bridemaids carrying bouquets seems a bit little girlish.
@Amanda_Rae: you look just gorgeous! What a stunning ensemble!
Thanks girls, I didn't really realise there were so many options, think I'm going to have to get my creative cap on...
iv seen bouquets made from, buttons, jewellery, wooden flowers, feathers, lace flowers, glass flowers
@peasantsong: OMG that's my blog! How exciting! lol
I actually did a lot of research to find all the bouquets for that post, and some of what I found didn't even make it in. There are seriously a ton of alternatives.
Pinwheels, dried naturals (wheat, lavender, etc.), lanterns, clutches, silk flowers, buttons, brooches, hand warmers, feathers, fabric bouquets, pearls and crystals, seashells, fans, origami flowers, christmas ornament balls, felt flowers, pine cones, crochet flowers, fruits, vegetables (i've seen a picture of someone holding an artichoke!!).
@honeyoats22: An artichoke! Well, I want something different - but maybe not QUITE that different, haha! I did really enjoy your blog, it's given me food for thought.
@sarizzle: Aw thank you. :) When I was figuring out what to do for my bouquet, I found a lot of options googling the phrase "non floral bouquet."
And here's the artichoke photo I was talking about. ;)

Hi all! I'm just wondering... has anyone had/attended a wedding where the bridal party did not have flowers? I'm not so big on them personally, but I wouldn't want my poor girls walking down the aisle empty-handed (with everyone staring at them, I think they will need something to hold on to, as security)
A friend attended an outdoor evening ceremony where the bridesmaids carried lanterns which is a beautiful idea. Does anyone else have any thoughts?
