So we are getting married on the beach and having our recpetion under a beach house. So I was wanting something that is unique for a guest book, so i came up with the idea to have sand dollars where the guest would sign their names with a sharpie and that way we can place all the sand dollars in vase and use as decoration later. What do yall think?

I think that’s a cute idea!! I’m trying to think of something that’s not going to just be a book and collect dust. I’d love to use my “guestbook” as home decor! Great idea!

Our wedding has a very similar set up (ceremony on beach, beach house reception) and we got a coffee table book from the area to have guests sign. We are also doing a “guest book mural” that my dad is going to draw a lighthouse and each guest will take part in painting the picture.

I love that idea. Another bee had something very similar but it was done with flat rocks. They even had a poem that said something about writing advice or words of wisdom. I really wanted to do that but those flat rocks are kind of expensive.

That sounds great! I’d just be afraid of them breaking, while they’re writing or after when they go in the vase. Aren’t they pretty fragile? I could be wrong.

I think that’s a cute idea. Just make sure to get a pen/marker that won’t bleed – we used sand dollars as escort cards at our wedding and I found that I needed to use a certain type of pen. Sharpies worked well, so if you use those you should be fine.

The smaller ones are fragile, so i went ahead and ordered the 3-4″ inch ones thinking that they will be stronger. The sharpie thing i am glad you found this to work , i was worried about that happening

SO cute! I had a friend have her wedding at a river and she did river rocks like this – it was really cute!

make sure to test the sharpie out on a sand dollar before the wedding in case it “bleeds” or writes funny…you could get one of those paint pens at ac moore (or any craft store), they come in metallic colors that would be pretty…
