Hi December brides! Is anyone doing alternatives to flowers? I decided flowers didn’t really fit into my Winter/Christmas theme. My bouquet is a version of the one in this inspiration pic:
I had a professional make it. She used real-touch silk roses and many assorted ornaments, pine cones, and silver items. My sisters will carry similar bouquets; and my other bridesmaids will carry lanterns decorated to match.
Here’s an inspiration pic:
My centerpieces will be glass bowls filled with ornaments:
Just image no candle, and assorted sizes for the ornaments.
Send me your ideas and inspiration.
Please no negative comments about silk flowers, I realize not everyone likes them.

@jg780806: Looks beautiful! I’m actually beading all my flowers. I didn’t like the look of real, “summery” flowers for my winter wedding, so I decided to make my own with French and Victorian beading techniques. It’s a lot of work though. :S

@jg780806: I think your bouquet looks great! I didn’t want to do “flowers” either. Seemed out of season to me, and didn’t fit my venue or decor. We are doing bouquets with pine, cotton, seed pods, and succulents. It’s more earthy and rustic. No flowers for decor, either. Also doing lots of candles!
I love the unique idea of your bridesmaids holding lanterns. I think it will look great!

@jg780806: Wow that is gorgeous! I absolutely love unique bouquets, and Christmas themes are to die for.
We eloped on the beach, and my bouquet was actually my “something borrowed”. My friend owns an Etsy shop and does beach wedding stuff. She lent me her bouquet from her own wedding and I loved it! I’m sad I didn’t get more pictures with it, but it was so windy I wound up having to hold my train and hair a lot for photos.

I’m using real flowers for just the bouquets, corsages, and boutonnieres (white hydrangea, dark purple callas, Picasso callas, and dusty miller and monkey tails). For the centerpieces, I have purple handmade floating peony candles with rose quartz in the bottom of the bowl (8″ rounds with feet). I bought these before we chose a venue and their tables are quite large, so I may get mirrors to put underneath to make it seem more substantial. I love the photos you included! I just chose not to use a Christmas theme and it wouldn’t really fit my venue.
