For an after dark exit I really can't think of anything better than sparklers. My cousin did sparklers and they looked awesome. Anything else might get lost in the dark.
Bubbles, Confettie, and flower petals are all pretty cool, but may not show up for pictures in the dark.
We're doing Bubbles as we leave the ceremony, but it'll still be light.
I used ribbon wands and loved them. They were fun to walk through and the pictures turned out great. I bought mine from here for pretty cheap. http://www.haloheaven.com/weddingwands.html

What about lighting lanterns on the ground? Have some of your guests light a path of simple luminaries (white paper bag, sand & candle) before your exit, so you have a lighted path.

What about glow sticks?
Or these....

You could always resell those after the wedding!
LegallyBlonde I went to a wedding last year on the 4th of July and she handed out to all the guests glow-in-the-dark sticks, wands, etc. It was really a cool effect. We made two lines on each side for them to walk through to get in their car, plus we got to keep them!
Just an idea.

I have nothing against sparklers, it has just been done by like half of my bridesmaids and I don't want to feel like I'm ripping their ideas off, plus I want to have something different than what my crowd is used to for my big day.
Anyone know of any other good ways to make a grand exit? My reception ends at midnight and its at a historic inn. Thanks y'all!
