So I just went to my x-mas party and there was a cartoon artist there. He uses a laptop drawing board thing, and draws you as a cartoon. It was a hit, and was pretty cool, lots of people were lining up for it.

(Takes about 10 mins for 2 people) I know he said he charges $900 for a “full night” but there was an hourly charge of about $200? So it’s not cheap, but it is an alternative 🙂

You can have a self set up photo booth memory book. I thought about this myself!

It sounds like you want something interactive and fun. What about having guests thumb print their own favor, like have a framed card they can stamp and have as a keepsake of the day?

This isn’t really a ‘favor’ in the traditional sense – but I also can’t fit the photo booth in my budget, so I’m putting together fun photo-props for almost all of the tables.  I’m assuming that almost every couple will have a digital camera or smartphone with them – so I’m not even putting disposable cameras out.  I’m going to make up a sign that tells people to have fun with their photos and then a web address and password for them to post photos to so that we can share with everyone.  I’m sure it will be hit-or-miss, but I think some people will have fun with it.

Some of the photo props I’m making are the popular mustache’s on sticks, big lips on sticks and funky sunglasses.  I’m going to make most of the props myself to save money as well.

Polaroid camera? Designate a “photographer” to take polaroids of people at the door to take a snapshot or two.
