SO! Here is the down low 😉
I went to davids bridal and ordered a dress. but then i went in to pick it up and just didnt feel like it was “it” so I found another dress that I LOVED and still LOVE! But heres the thing….im kinf od freaking out on the size…see I ordered a size 2.
Im really afraid its might be a little too big! Especially because I plan on dropping 10 pounds and slimming up before the wedding! IF i go to the shop…would I be a total bridezilla if it was to big and i asked them to order a “0” Im really scared that the ladies there purposly ordered it a little too big so i would HAVE to utilize the alterations department.
Im really scared to see what alterations would cost me….
What should I do?!

Ugh…I hate this! I hate that bridal shops always order a size up b/c a certain part of your body doesn’t fit the mold for a specific size, or b/c they want to make money on alterations.
You said you already ordered the dress? Can you call to see if you can get the size you ordered changed? If you wait until it comes in, they won’t let you change it then…you’ll most likely have to pay for a whole other dress. So, see if you can switch it! If not, you might have to pay an arm and a leg for the alterations unfortunately!

Wedding dress sizes are wacky – I’d trust the consultant on this one. If it’s really making you nervous, wait to start your slimdown efforts until after the dress has arrived and you’re sure it’s not too big.

I’d wait on the slim-down until the dress comes in. You couldn’t possibly have that much to lose if you’re going from a 2 to a 0 (or whatever street size equivalent). It’s not like you’re trying to drop multiple sizes.

I wouldn’t worry about it too much – many girls on the boards that are smaller sizes have wished they ordered up – I think it is safer to get the 2 and pay for alterations than to have a dress that is too small!

the dress actually has already arrived!
I was expecting the dress in next month and it came in a month early!
I was planning on keeping my alterations appt in March.
So until then i was going to continue my slim down so that when i arrive at my appt in march then i would be the size i want to be (HOPEFULLY!)
Yay or nay to this plan??

keep the size 2. It is better to have more fabric to work with than not enough. Trust me, this is from a bride who ordered the size the store recommended instead of sizing up like she felt she should. The dress came in and it was too tight. The side seams weren’t sewn correctly so there wasn’t much fabric left for the dress to be taken out. It is ALWAYS better to have more fabric than not enough. You will need alterations anyway, most brides do, so please keep the dress ordered at size 2.
