Am I being unreasonable or unfair?

pnkprttygrl:  the deposit is usually a portion of the total bill (mine was 10% of the estimated total).  If they were splitting it 50/50 now the deposit would have been split as well (I’m assuming) so now, when the final total comes in, split it in half and deduct the deposit from your mom’s side.

ie – deposit was 1000

final total before deduction for deposit = 10000

Edit to fix my math!!

Mom pays 4000, MIL pays 5000

That’s probably something you should ask your mother and his mother about. If she offered to pay for half of the catering bill then she probably doesn’t want to short your mom.

the deposit is part of the catering bill – so if they’re splitting it, they should each in the END have paid the same. so if your mum has already put down 2000, and 8000 is left, then his mum should pay 5000 and yours should pay 3000.
