You’re not crazy. But you should keep in mind that choosing a dress is, for some brides, one of the biggest/funnest choices they get to make during their planning process. You will be bombarded with pictures of beautiful gowns for the next year and a half. The more prematurely you buy one, the greater chance you might feel regret if you see something you like better down the road.

Again, this isn’t the case for all or even most brides, but some brides who buy too early end up wanting something different down the line.

Also make sure that you have chosen your venue and decided on a feel and level of formality for your wedding before you purchase a gown. You don’t want to buy a big, sparkly tulle ballgown only to decide 4 months from now that you’re actually going to be having a rustic-style wedding at a barn.

Just my two cents!

applecat: +eeeeeeeverything. Buying my dress wasn’t that hard, but falling in love with every other bridal gown I saw afterwards was.

OP, I had one true moment of dress regret and since then I’ve moved on, but maybe it would be worth holding off for you. 🙂

I say if you love it, you love it!! STOP LOOKING! You’ll just get more confused!! Buy away I’d say. It’s a huge thing to check off your list!

heyymegg:  You’re not crazy! My wedding isn’t until November 2015 and I already have TWO dresses! I agree with an above poster, if you find something you love STOP LOOKING!! I’m not going to start the alteration process until next summer though 🙂

I bought mine 2 and a half years early that was about a year and a half ago.  I still love it so much.  Even after looking at so many dresses it is still my favorite.  I say go for it if you really truly love it!  But a word of advice don’t go look at any more dresses in person, get this one and be done.

heyymegg: I bought my gown a year and a half before my wedding. It was 75% off and such a great deal, I didn’t want to miss out.

I had found a similar dress that I had loved previously, but it got sold out at the stockist before I got engaged.

I have zero dress regret because it was such a great price and I haven’t seen anything similar for the price I paid since. It’s also been nice that I’m a year from my wedding and can focus on other priorities and have extra room in the budget for better food, better photography, etc.

You’re not crazy, but dont do it just yet!!  I fell in love with a Benjamin Roberts dress and absolutley thought it was the one, bought it, and 6 months later had enormous dress regret.  I am now selling said dress and have bought another one pre owned (Sophia Tolli Jillian) which is absolutley amazing (you wouldnt know it wasnt brand new).  So I would say keep it in mind, and if you still think its the one in 6 months then get it x
