cbova :  it’s similar, but the bodice is different. I probably wouldn’t call it a knock off

I wouldn’t call that a knock-off, either. Berta isn’t the first designer to do a dress in that style with those details, and it’s normal for designers to use elements from each other’s work and be inspired by each other. That is how trends and era-defining styles happen.

ETA: I just looked at Berta’s new collection, and there are plenty of details and elements of those gowns that other designers did both recently and decades ago.

I also looked at Calla Blanche’s new collection, and their gowns are distinctive. I’ve not seen dresses quite like theirs before, frankly, and I look at wedding dresses frequently and have for years now. I’m happy that you posted about them, because those dresses are gorgeous.

cbova :  I don’t think the first is even remotely close enough to be called a knockoff. The second is a little closer, but still not a knockoff IMO.

Barely noticeable nuances make them look different… so it depends on how much you pay attention to detail.

If you like it then go ahead and purchase it. Many dresses look similar over many collections

cbova :  sorry to revive a kinda old thread! But I totally agree, and it seems to be with Berta specifically. The dress that I bought I didn’t know the name of the designer so I scoured the net for a clue and came across a Berta dress that was last season that looks JUST like my dress, down to back detail and sheer hip panels and illusion neckline, but my dress has two layers of tulle over the lace and pearl detailing on it. It looks like the Berta dress was the baseline for the design and they added to it. I love my dress but it does seem a little strange…

Look up Berta 16-23 and Calla Blanche 17128. They are almost the same, I wanted the Berta and did a double take when I saw the Calla Blanche just now!

cbova :  You’re not crazy, those dresses to me look VERY similar, from overall style to even the fabric choice. Anywho, calla blanche dresses look beautiful, should be a great bargain.
