Hi Bees! I need some help, or maybe just someone to either tell me I’m not crazy or give me some tips for alterations. When I tried on the sample of my dress, I was in love! I still love the dress, but I feel like I looked much better in the sample proportions…in my size, I feel like the top looks too small and the waist looks too high.
I tried on my actual dress in horribly unflattering lighting (my FMIL’s bathroom!) and the photo was taken from a bad angle, but I still feel like it doesn’t fit me quite as nicely as the too-big sample. Am I crazy?
Here’s me in the sample (size 16) all clipped into place:
And here’s me in the dress in my size (size 10) with my bolero:

Very pretty bolero!! I honestly think that the one in your actual size looks better.

I see what you mean about your waist being higher in your dress, but get it steamed and see how you feel.

To answer your question-Yup! You’re crazy. Your dress looks great!
You look much smaller in the dress that fits.

@MrsLongcoatPeacoat: Maybe you’re right, it is kind of wrinkled! It’s also much puffier for the sample, so I feel like maybe I could get a layer of the underskirt removed to give me a little more of an A-line look.
I’m not sure why I’m so incredibly indecisive…I feel like I question everything I pick for the wedding!

The dress your size looks perfect to me! I think the larger one is a smidge baggy…

@MM423: LOVE your dress! i almost bought it and in my size i felt like the waist was too high, but thats how its supposed to be – i actually think your size looks better 🙂 Great choice! and the bolero is fabulous!

The correct size looks much better on you. I think the sample size pic is just in more flattering light, like you said, which makes it look softer against your skin tone. Love the bolero too!

The waist is higher on the size 10. It appears to be at your natural waist. Evidently that is where it is supposed to be. The size 16 had more fabric thus making the waist lower. Your size simply fits you better! : ) BTW, your bolero is fabulous! It goes perfectly with the dress!

Once the dress “settles” I’m sure you will feel better. I think the one in your size looks better!

I think the dress that fits looks better. But only if I really scrutinize the differences. They don’t look too different. So, have yourself the $$$ and hastle. Get your size! lol

Thanks everyone! I also got my dress in white without realizing I tried it on in ivory, but it’s too late to change that now. I’m sure we all second-guess these things. I think all of my WB posts are about me questioning the things I’ve picked…it’s just hard to see all of the beautiful dresses and styles everyone has chosen and not question my own choice!

Yes, your actual size looks way better! You’re drowning in the bigger size. Your dress looks great!

@kfraztobe: Thanks! It’s a Mori Lee Blu 4524, I keep seeing it all over the Bee! It’s a really popular dress.
