No, I think it’s a fine idea since there will be a tent, heaters, blankets and hot chocolate. It sounds cozy.

@XmasBride2014:  i LOVE the cold weather so this would be perfect with me…with that said, cali folks might not be used to it.  Maybe poll some friends and see what they say?

I love the idea though- I think winter is so romantic 🙂

@XmasBride2014:  I dunno, December near the water can be really hit or miss. I doubt it will rain, but it will probably be really cold because HMB is cold literally all the time. Maybe you could do an outdoor ceremony but indoor reception. I’d dreamed of having my wedding at the Davenport Roadhouse.

If you’re crazy I am too! My reception is indoors but I’m hoping for my December Texas outdoor ceremony! I’ve said if it’s above 35 and not raining, bring your sweater because this business happening outside :). I think you’re fine so long as you have plan B (ie indoor space or heaters, tent, etc.)

If you are getting heaters and fire pits that would be fine.
How about a hot chocolate bar too and pshminas as favors (they aren;t the waarmest thing but can certainly help and can be used after as well)   🙂

I would plan on people leaving early if this is what you decide to do. I would think this was fun for a short period of time, but once you get so cold things quit being fun:(

4 hours outside in potentially 40* weather is not fair on your guests. Fire pits and hot cocoa won’t change the fact that it’s too cold to be hanging around outside for more than a little while. People won’t stay too long. Change the date, or change the venue.

Go for it.  Funny when I read the title I thought yes you are crazy but I am Canadian and our winter can be as cold as -40 degrees celsius 😀
