I’m brand new to this site and SO excited to be a part of these awesome forums! My honey and I have been together for almost 2 years. (as of right now, he’s sitting five feet away, watching t.v. on the couch with no knowledge of this post, thank GOD) Anyway, lately a lot of our conversations have been about marriage or the resources that we would have for a wedding, etc.
I’ve dropped SEVERAL hints about a ring, even to the point where I’ve stopped wearing a ring from my grandma to make it easier for him to get his hands on it. Well, all this talk has me all excited because I love him so much and want to be his wife like no other! But I worry that I may be going a little TOO crazy a little TOO soon.
You see, for the past three weeks now, I’ve been looking at almost every single wedding site known to man and have even started putting ideas together. We have a BIG trip coming up in August that we’ve been planning. Ten days in So Cal visiting 4 different theme parks, my ultimate favorite one being DISNEYLAND! There’ve been several hints that the trip is when it’s gonna happen, but again, I don’t want to get my hopes up. I just can’t seem to stop looking at wedding stuff when I can and I don’t know if I’m setting myself up for disappointment!
Is it too soon or am I like every other girl out there?

i’ve started kind of planning and we’re not engaged yet. although i do know we’ll be enagaged in the next 6 months, and in 2 weeks we’re putting the deposit down on a venue so technically i think it’s allowed!
what kind of talks have you had? is he really hinting? i’ve been with my guy for almost 4 years now and we’ve spoken about marriage since about 2 months into the relationship – still, it hasn’t happened yet.
don’t set yourself up for disappointment. and don’t expect that it will happen on the holiday. i’ve read many a report of girls thinking their guy would propose on a certain day, he had the ring but didn’t think the timing was ‘just right’, she’d blow up in his face and he’d get sad because the proposal wasn’t like what he’d had in his mind.
stories like this make me very sad
i started looking on websites and on pinterest for a while. i went through phases where i was like ‘ooooh this would be nice!’ and then stopped thinking about it. i’ve been doing that for roughly a year now – but i never had my hopes set on a certain date or anything. there’s nothing wrong with looking – but don’t let your expectations get the better of you.

@MissThespian: You are crazy, but then so was I! And I am quite certain so are the majority of ur fellow bees! Heck I looked at wedding dresses before I even MET my DH! Can’t wait to hear what happens in the big trip. x

I don’t think you’re crazy! I think most girls dream of their wedding and like to think about things. If you know for sure that he’s the one and it’s going to happen, I don’t see a problem with planning 🙂

I dont see a problem in planning at all! I’m a planner by nature and so if you told me “You have a year to get everything in order for the biggest day of your life, I think i would lose my mind. Having ideas (and boards on pinterest) is nothing to worry about.
Now if you sent out invitations….

A few weeks ago I started doing some generic planning….just getting my thoughts together on what I want and how much things cost. Boyfriend or Best Friend has NO idea though, and I keep it to myself and will do so until we get engaged. No harm in having a little fun with ideas! I started a profile on the Knot this week, just to start saving my ideas, but I haven’t told anyone! sshhhh!

omg!!! I am sooooo thrilled to hear that I’m not the only one!!! Thanks for the feedback, bees! Well, there was a period where we sat and talked about different types of proposals for about 20 minutes and he had all of these ideas he kept spewing out, which made me even MORE excited…and YES, he is most certainly the one I want to spend the rest of my life with! (even though he makes me crazy)
And don’t worry, I haven’t gone as far as sending out any invites, but I’m DEFINITELY crossing my fingers for August! Either way, I won’t let it ruin our trip and I will CERTAINLY keep you ladies posted!! 🙂
