I am currently taking the birth control pill. I missed two pills in the end of week 2 and I began bleeding (I assumed it was my period) which lasted for about 2-3 days and was really heavy and heavier than normal. Today is day 3 of my inactive week of pills, which is usually when my period begins. I found about two drops of blood in my underpants. There was also a spot of blood about 2 or 3 days ago as well. I have been having sex throughout my cycle and I am just wondering how likely it is that I’m pregnant, and also when I should take a pregnancy test.

If your period is due now, then now is the time to take a pregnancy test. Best wishes to you!

RyansFutureWife: If I were you I’d test anyway, but when I was on the pill, if I missed enough (say 2) to start bleeding then I usually wouldn’t have my “period” during the inactive week or at least very late in the inactive week. Almost as if my body had just gotten rid of the buildup so there was nothing to shed.
I doubt you’re pregnant but you should test anyway, they’re pretty inexpensive.

RyansFutureWife: Just take a test
At any rate I don’t think you can ovulate quick enough in 2 days if you missed the pills, however anything can happen. You probably just messed up your hormones by skipping the pills. Did you take the pills after you missed them?

If I had breakthrough bleeding (which is what that is when you bleed after missing some pills) I wouldn’t bleed again during the inactive pills. When it happened to me I’d just stop my pills and wait for the bleeding to end and then I’d start a new pack. I’m not sure if this is recommended though, even though I never got pregnant. But if I kept on taking them I would just keep spotting forever, so it was easiest for me to stop and then restart a new pack.
I’d take a pregnancy test, and then go ahead and start a new pack of pills. You’re probably not pregnant, though it’s always possible to get pregnant if you’re having sex.

This is exactly the kind of scenario pregnancy tests are made for.

RyansFutureWife: definitely take a test. If you were to be pregnant, it may not show up for another week or so (can take up to 3-4 weeks after ovulation for the HCG to be high enough to detect)
My advice to you is if you WANT to be pregnant. Don’t restart your pills and take a test 4 weeks from you 2 days missed pills. But if you don’t want to have a baby and would have a termination. Restart your pills when you’re due to but still take a test

Watching this space, I had my period start 4 days before the active pills. Then never got a period on the days of the active pill. Never missed a pill, but under a lot of wedding stress so it might be that. To be honest I never thought of pregnancy!
