HI Ladies, I am looking for some opinions based on your experience. Here is some background (TMI):
I have really long and unpredicatable cycles, typically 35-50 days. I usually have get my period for 5-7 days. I also never experience mentrsual cramps or spotting before my period; it’s about an average flow the entire time I have it. I am 26 and engaged, but not TTC (we wouldn’t be upset, but it certainly is not in the plan right now).
My last period was about 30 days ago. FI and I had unprotected sex about 10 days ago. Yesterday I experienced a horrible cramp that almost had me curled over on the floor. The cramp lasted for about a minuted. I went to the bathrrom shortly after and had a light pink spot in my underware. Today I had a tiny amount of brown mucous only visible when wiping. No more cramps, no other symptoms, just that…
From your experience, does this sound like I am pregnant? Would it be too early to take a test?
Thanks for your advice – I am super nervous (it’s a scary thought)!!

@RTC_KLC: I can’t vote on the poll. I can’t say yes or no. It’s I’m not sure…It really could be anything. Implantation bleeding usually happens the latest 5 days after unprotected sex, but who knows? Anytime you have unprotected sex you have a chance of becoming pregnant. All you can do is test, then wait a while and test again. Since your periods seem to be irregular, I’d imagine you’d have to test several times. Maybe consult with your doctor.

I don’t think anyone on the internet, no matter what your symptoms, will be able to tell you if you’re pregnant. Wait a bit and take a test- you could start taking tests now if you wanted, but it would probably get expensive.

The only way to know for sure is to test! If it were me, I’d test every couple of days til I got my period or a positive. If the cramp you felt was indeed implantation it’ll take a couple days to show a pos result. Make sure you use a good test like a First Response Early Result. They’re the most reliable. Good luck sweetie!

Thanks. I understand that it is hard to say yes or know. I guess I am just looking for people who have had similar symptoms, or can offer any insite based on their experience. I know nobody can definitively say yes or no.

@curlymama318: Thanks – I think the not knowing is going to drive me insane!!! ; )

It sounds like you’re in the Two Week Wait! Not a fun place to be. Definitely give it a week and then take a test!

@RTC_KLC: the problem is that people are going to have those sympyoms and have been pregnant, and people are going to have had them and not been pregnant. It’s not going to give you any information, just going to psych you out. Maybe a doctor can give you a blood test that would be more accurate than a standard pregnancy test

I was in a similar situation. Didn’t have my period for a month and a half, tests kept saying negative then I got the same thing you did. I went to the doctor and she sent me for a blood test which came back negative. No one here can tell you yes or no, and I think you know that. Everyone is different. If you want a more reliable (although the at home tests are pretty accurate) then go to the doctor. Good luck.

Take a test if your period doesn’t come.

I agree with pp’s take a test. if you get a negative wait a week or so and if you still don’t have your period, take another. There’s no way to know any other way. And a lot of pregnancy symptoms are the same as PMS symptoms due to hormone fluctuations. (ie I get sore boobs often after ovulating, this is also a common pregnancy symptom)

It could be pregnancy, but it could also just be an unusual period (as you age your hormones will fluctuate and you may find that your periods change, too), or even a cyst.
Honestly, having had a cyst before that is what came to mind first. The easiest thing to do is take a test, and then take a test again in about 5 days. Since you have unpredictable cycles, you might want to consider charting your cycle. My cycles range from 29 days to as long as 45 days, and charting my cycle meant that I always knew when to expect my period. Invaluable!

At the very least, if it was implantation, you should be able to take a test here soon. I would think you could try starting in 3 or 4 days?
I had implantation bleeding (I’m assuming) and it started at 9 DPO (mine was heavier than most though) so it sounds like you could be in the right timeframe (time from sex to this cramp). I certainly wouldn’t rely on symptoms or cramps to guess because some people get them and some don’t.

The 8 ball says…. Ask Again Later.
Huh, sorry. :/

If you had unprotected sex, you could be pregnant. If you’re concerned, take a test now. If it’s negative, wait to see if your period comes and test again if it doesn’t. Worst case scenario, you waste a dollar or two on a test now.
