My reception venue is a NIGHTMARE! I am starting to feeling like the lady in charge is just trying to piss me off. so heres is my story…
when i first called in January she told me the date was available and that the room rental fee (of $400.) would be wavied because of a special they are running.
she charged me for the room.
she also explained that the hotel was empty for the day of the wedding so my guests could stay. she asked me to have them call and book soon to make sure there wasnt a problem. I sent my STD out that Friday and within 3 week (beginning of Feb) the hotel was full and my guuests could not get a room.
ok….so i called. I asked her to go through the room rentals and tell me how many of my guests had rooms. out of teh 74 rooms, I only have 20. How is this possible i thought? she explained that august is a crazy time of teh year and they fill up. ok, fair enough. so I called the hotel last night and tried to reserve a room as a guest for the weekend of my wedding. they explained that Friday night and Sunday night are completly open but Sat (the day of my wedding) is full. How is that possible? If people were coming for the weekend wouldn’t they book friday as well. so come to find out the hotel is boarding people working in for teh gas companies in the area and they have all the rooms. my guess? she told them there was a wedding and had them save thier rooms.
i understand they give her regualr buisness but shitty all the same.
ok so moving on. She told me that i would have to come for a tasting in April. after numerous emails that she didn’t respond to she finally emailed me last night and set the tasting for this sat, however, we can not taste the Prime rib becuase they order it in bulk and cut it fresh. now i am not a steak eater and really didnt care to try it. but how do I serve something that 70% of my guests will probably order and hope it tastes good?
stress can not even explain what i am feeling.
am i really that crazy?

I don’t think you’re crazy. Our hotel made us reserve a block of rooms for the weekend. We had to pay half of the total of all the rooms, but then we’ll get reimbursed when all of our guests pay for the rooms. I think doing rooms by block is standard, so it’s surprising that your hotel didn’t do that. As for the prime rib…do they have a restaurant you can go to at some point to try it?

we did get a room block. and in all reality the most important people to us have rooms. but no one else can stay. I believe they do have a resturant onsite. and i would have gone there to eat but why didn’t she say that? in’t this what they do for a living. if i wanted to plan everything i would have. im sorry i dont mean to sound like a lunatic but i am really upset with all of this.

@jotasevic: Dear Emotional:
I as the Salesperson that booked your wedding and assisited in some details, I am so sorry to hear that it was not a good expierence we strive for all our brides and their guests to have an enjoyable expierence with us. (Not stressful)
I would like a chance to explain a few misunderstandings;
1. Room Rental Fee was waived not charged to you. You had to mention the special in order to recieve the discount. It was not a printable coupon but merely a on line special to attract busieness. I looked back on your bill and again there was no room rental charge.
2. As to the Room Block, we had rooms available for the requested dates and you ended up with 21 rooms which is a quarter of my room inventory. We had a corporate booking come in, which guaranteed us rooms booked for months and that happened after we spoke in which I said please have your guests call asap when you booked your wedding here, due to possible bookings. (We can have 74 rooms available 1 day and the very next day have none! Room blocks only are given 10 rooms at a time til reserved and then we add additional rooms as needed.)
3. As to the taste test we did accommondate the request of the prime rib and we served it to you for your taste test. We do not normally serve prime rib. We do not serve PRIME RIB in our in house restaurant…. We bring it in according to the event.
I was sorry to come across this, I thought you where a great bride and that your day was beautiful…. I hope only for the best for you both and as to my end I enjoyed you and remember you saying it was great! Planning is always stressful especially for the biggest day of your adult life! I hope at some point you will look back and remember the good instead of the stress!
