You will get to have the wedding you want - don't worry too much about it...I know a lot of people are having to put planning on hold because of finances right now. You'll make it there!
I think that you can consider yourself to be engaged!!! :) AND...we are getting married on the same date (yay)! Hopefully you can pull off the budget issue and not have to put things on hold!
Definitely sounds like a real proposal/engagement. Very sweet :) Everything will work out for the best, you just have to be patient with the budget issue. Just know that it's going to happen sooner rather than never. Good luck and I hope you are able to get married on 5/15 :)

Sounds like being engaged to me. But honestly, this isn't a question you should be asking weddingbee. If you are ready to get married then you should be having these conversations with your fiance to figure out your real status. Communication is key for your relationship to succeed. Talk with him and make sure you are both on the same page.
I'm a little confused... you got the text message June of 2001 but you and your bf have only been together for a little over 2 years? But--congratulations! It definitely sounds like you're engaged!

I am so embarassed fornot proof reading. For the record the proposal was in 2009 not 2001.
But per my BF we ARE engaged & he is now FIANCE, 
and couldn't be happier.

My BF & I have been together for a little over 2 years. At first we would play around with the idea of getting married. But eventualy, we agreed that 'someday' we would get married. Well, I don't have an official proposal... at least I don't think so... or maybe... I don't know. In April of this year we were celebrating his mom's birthday and out of nowhere he got all the men ready and willing to take a trip to Vegas- where we'd get married. It took myself and all the 'women' in his family to convince him that we should wait and plan something instead. Since then, we've been debating if we should plan something 'small' but sweet or just take off to Vegas. Eighter way, his mom got tired of heearing us "TALK" and said to let her know when we were serious.... (LOL)
In June of 2001, I was spending the afternoon with his mom and older sister and he was spending the day with his brother. Well, I got a text/picture... It was him om his knees with the words "Will you marry me my love?" texted on the phone. We were cities apart, but at that moment I felt close enough to know it was time to say YES!
The very next day, we found ourselves undecided on which date.... it seemed like everyone was giving us their opinion as to why not 'that' day or 'this' date. Until, FINALY, he said "Ignore everyone else, we are getting married 05/15/10." I said "ok." :) But since then we have found ourselves in a $0. money situation that we might just have to put things on hold. I have already gotten so many things at a discount but still need so much more. Well, at least I have my dress!!! It was actualy Heaven's sent... His mom & I found it for an incredible price and it was a perfect fit wich made it clear IT'S MEANT TO BE.
