Me me! Hey EasportBride- I'll be back in town at the end of June- want to walk our dogs around Annapolis? :) Any other takers?
Well, I live in Annapolis but I'm getting married in October in Vermont. But I still consider myself an "annapolis bride" since I've been planning everything from here, got my dress and bridesmaids dresses from here, etc.
So, you're not alone. When is your wedding?
Oh that's sounds great! definitely let's plan on it, Miss Tiramisu.
crcbloom, my wedding is in late september.
glad to hear I'm not alone as I thought! :-)
I am getting married in Annapolis in November. I am doing a Pintail Cruise that departs from the City Dock. I live in Columbia, MD, so I have been sort of looking at the Baltimore and DC boards also.
I'd love to join you (and I'm sure my dog would love to too!) when you all get together. Looking forward to it!
Welcome, DrB. I hear great things about Pintail and the River Plantation in general. I would have loved to do that, but my sister and my step-sister were both married on harbor cruises, so I decided that a boat was out for me. Instead, we're going the more traditional route with a wedding in an historic chapel in Stevensville and the reception at the Chesapeake Bay Beach Club, just a few minutes away on Kent Island. It's a destination wedding for all of the families--I grew up on the west coast and my fiance is from upstate NY--so we wanted to take advantage of being on the Bay as much as we could.
Right here! Just got engaged in May, discovered the Annapolis board, getting married in February. How is everyone's planning going?
I got engaged in May also and we just started planning! I cannot wait to pick your brains of places to hold our wedding!
I live in DC but am getting married at the Chesapeake Bay Beach Club (like Eastport Bride). My fiance and I met sailing in Boston and he is in Annapolis a lot still for sailing. We love the Bay and wanted to get married there (plus cheaper than DC!)
Hi everyone,
I'm a local Annapolitan, a newlywed and a photographer... if you guys have any questions I'd love to help out, I get a lot of brides who are very lost and with millions of questions about wedding photography...
Hey all, I'm from Pasadena, lucky that I found some other brides around my way. I'm looking at the Richlin ballroom for my venue, not 100% sure on that. Still haven't gotten anything booked yet, and looking for a great photographer who isn't too expensive if anyone knows of one :)
Hi, I am getting married in October at Hunter's Oak. It was between that and the Chesapeake Bay Beach Club. I loved them both. It was a really tough decision. I am overwhelmed trying to find vendors though. Any good suggestions for bands?
Hi Girls! I live in NYC but planning my wedding in Annapolis in June. I am renting the Great Hall of St John's College for the ceremony, and the Hodson Boathouse (also at St John's College) for the reception. Both are great venues and walking distance from Historic Inns in downtown Annap - great for all our out of town guests. One downside, is it requires alot of DIY. I have to rent all the furnishings, table settings, linens, staff, etc. I didn't think about all that when we booked... but the upside is it will be very personalized! I found some great discounted vendors on craigslist - the piano player, and amazing photographer who just moved to the area, a wedidng planner just getting started in the biz - let me know if you need any recommendations.
An Eastern Shore bride here. We live in Arlington, but are getting married in my hometown of Ocean City (toes in the sand for the ceremony with the reception to follow at the Sunset Room on the bay at, well, sunset). Any other brides from the lower shore?
Hi Eastern Shore ladies! Can anyone give me some guidance on a great reception site on or near Assateague Island? I woudl love to have the reception right on the beach, but don't think that's possible.
Please help if you can!
Thanks!
We're getting married in Salisbury (my home town) then having our reception at the Ocean Pines Yacht Club July 17, 2010. Our guests are staying in O.C. and we have a whole week of festivities planned!
danceguru- I'm not sure if you already found a venue or not but there is a company out of Ocean City called Rox Entertainment. My fiance and I met with the owner about getting married on the beach in O.C. But then I remembered I have the worst luck and it'd probably rain on that day! So hence the church!
I am from the Baltimore and DC area but I just moved to the Salisbury area to move in with my now fiance and we are pretty sure we are having our wedding here on the shore.
Hello everyone! Native Annapolitan here! I will be getting married in Annapolis in June 2011. Ceremony at St. Mary's and still looking for a nice but affordable venue for the reception. I am considering the Chesapeake Bay Beach Club or Pintail Yachts for the reception, but have yet to check out either. I will look into them this month.
Anyone have feedback on the Pintail Yachts out of Annapolis? Are they affordable/accommodating/hassle-free?
@Jazziberry: Hi! I am just north of Annapolis in Pasadena. Date is Sept 24, 2011. We are having our reception just over the Bay Bridge at a place called Matapeake Beach and Clubhouse. It's a state park and it is a great venue. Clean slate! Has a small beach and a GREAT view of the water and the bay bridge!
I'm from Baltimore, living in Pittsburgh (and still cheering for the Raven's), and getting married on the Eastern Shore at the Hyatt Chesapeake in Cambridge. Any other Eastern Shore brides out there? I'd love to compare some vendors!
We just booked our wedding at St. John's in Annapolis. Did anyone get married there? I would love to hear about it.
Any new area brides???
I'm from Annapolis, live near Pittsburgh for now and I'll be getting married in Stevensville in July at the Silver Swan Bayside.
I need opinions on bakers, florists, and most importantly hair/make up for the area?
I'm getting married in Annapolis! I don't have a baker, florist or hair/make up yet, but I just wanted to pop in and say hi!
Make-up: Amber from Make-up Memories. She is based in Annapolis and is fan-frickin-tastic! She also works with a freelance hair stylist who is amazing.
Flowers: Dana from Petals (St. Michaels). Dana's work is amazing. She takes your vision and makes it her own.
Technically I'm a Baltimore bride, but we took our engagement photos in Annapolis, and seriously considered the Historic Inns for our ceremony/reception. And, had I a dog, I would be so happy to meet up with you ladies for a stroll!
@colli459: We're getting married at the Historic Inns! I have heard good things about them
@redheadem:I was there for a Student Government Association (I'm at the UMB Pharm School) retreat back in August 2010. The food is delicious, and the space really is beautiful. The restricting factor is that because my FI and I are both out of state, all of our relatives will have to fly to BWI and it was easier to get them to our venue in downtown Bmore than the Historic Inns. Annapolis is gorgeous, though, so quaint and charming. Oh, added benefit to the Historic Inns is there's this baked potato shop like, 3 stores down from the Governor Calvert House that is sooooo delicious! Seriously, you have to try it!
Has anyone been to the Annapolis Bridal Expo? Is it worth going to? or are you going to it this weekend???
