Guilty! I spent too much time in my teen years lurking on forums and livejournal communities that were "drama" oriented - never ever ever commented, but I liked to watch. It just fascinates me how easily people fall to one another's bait. I do appreciate how quick WB is to diffuse situations, though - really glad to know this community is one where I can feel safer to post than, say, The Knot.
I do it too! I have been looking for something to keep me occupied on this rainy day. My DH doesn't get it. lol He has heard me talk all about the bee's and now he gets to watch me just sit back and read.
oh yeah! and sometimes i want to bump it myself when it gets lost in the sea of threads
@jocember: Oh, I've never posted there but I've popped over to read some threads and my goodness, I think I shall stay right here on the bee!
@jpalm13: Haha! Me too! When people stop posting on it I get a little sad.
Ha ha Yes definately. I don't like to participate, but I like to read the drama.
@CarolinaCola: I posted once right after I got engaged and it was a huge mistake. Horribly rude people! Fortunately, I found the Bee right after and never felt the need to post there again :)
@Katielee: Same here. Sometimes I'll browse the boards on my phone when he's playing video games and I'll laugh or comment on something out loud. He used to ask. Now he rolls his eyes and says something like "Is this a real friend or a bee?" or he makes a comment about the dangers of internet and allowing women to converse in such large numbers.
Oh well, I don't judge his VW Vortex habits.
@jocember: I can imagine. When my FI and I first started looking at moissanite rings, I looked there to see what those ladies had to say about it and I'll always remember someone posted and said that if you can't afford a diamond, then you don't deserve to have a clear stone that looks like one. I was like "Okay, time to go now."
There's one in particular that I'm watching right now. I'm waiting for the OP to respond just to see what she says. Sometimes bride's on here are just so nuts you just can't look away.
@WhatPicketFence: "the dangers of internet and allowing women to converse in such large numbers"
I just laughed out loud like an idiot about that one!
@CallmeC: Haha! I just read your post on another thread and I was thinking "Go 'head, girl!"
Ha! I've done that before, too. Often, when it's one of those really unfortunate "my SO did something awful to me, what's my next step" sort of thread, I will check in to see what happened but feel that most of the decent advice has already been given so I don't always post.
@Juliepants: Oh, yeah. I tend to watch those too without commenting because a lot of times I just don't know what to say that would be at all helpful.
@CarolinaCola: I have never actually done that but after reading this thread I did search for the ones you might have been talking about and I am now reading. So now this may become something I do haha.
I do this!
But sometimes I can't quite resist the urge to jump right into the fray!
Now I'm so curious to see which thread(s) you're all watching in case I've missed something good....haha.
@WhatPicketFence "Is this a real friend or a bee?" DH has said the same thing to me! Most days I like you ladies much more than I do my "real" friends.
@CarolinaCola I thought about posting there when I first got started and needed advice, but I saw what they did to other women and I siad no thank you! I still wish I had found the bee's sooner.
Any good threads I am missing out on today. If you don't want to post here message me. lol
@Juliepants: Welllll, you've commented on both of the ones I'm thinking of, so you haven't missed anything, I don't think.
@Juliepants: I won't comment on those anymore either. They get flooded pretty quickly with the same, good advise.
It depends on how interesting th topic itself is. If I'm interested in what's being talked about, I don't like arguments getting in the way. I get super annoyed when it goes off track and I'm just reading two or more people going at eachother for hours, especially over inconsequential issues.
Sometimes the arguments are more interesting than the rest of the posts though
@CarolinaCola: A-ha! *checks recent posts but can only think of one*
Ps - someone just PM'd me one they'd been watching and I hadn't seen it yet, hehe.

I'm a thread-watcher.
This is what I do: I see a potentially offensive/controversial/heated thread posted, and go "Ohhh this is gonna get good." I stay on that page, and just refresh and follow the conversation, or usually, the argument. I usually don't comment just because I don't want to get involved (I'd rather just read the drama, not be part of it). It doesn't happen all the time, but every so often there's a gem of a thread posted and I get so excited! Haha. There was one thread I was watching yesterday and another one today. When I was reading through the interesting one yesterday I was thinking, "I wonder how many other bees are doing exactly what I'm doing right now??"
There has to be at least a few other bees that do this.
