Who is completely and utterly inept when it comes to blowing out my own hair? You know, nice round brush, drying in sections, until the end result is glossy, bouncy hair? I cannot for the life of me find the dexterity to do this. It seems like everyone else can do it. I am similarly useless when it comes to styling my hair. Whenever the back of my head is involved all of a sudden I can’t figure out which hand to use, or what the hell I’m looking at in the mirror. Why am I so bad at this?
I’ve mastered the hair down, curled/waved with a flat iron or a large barrel curling iron. But an updo? Half-up? Putting my hair into large velcro rollers? Blowing it out with my long-sought-after (and expensive) boar bristle round brush? All of a sudden I’m like an infant who has not yet mastered basic motor skills. I just can’t get my hands to do the right things while watching my reflection.
@MrsDrRose612: You’ve atleast mastered the art of curling your hair! I can’t even do that, either! lol I’m HORRIBLE when it comes to my hair (OK with makeup, but still not great). My sister gives me so much grief over never doing anything with my hair. It’s because I don’t know how! I definitely need to learn! Good luck to you! 🙂
@MrsWTD: I’m hoping someone will share tips and tricks because there’s something about hair styilng that when it involves using my reflection to style my hair (working backwards/opposite) I just fall all to pieces. I feel like such an amateur!
@MrsDrRose612: You are lightyears ahead of me. Luckily with my straight hair, I can get away with just brushing it. However, I’m so jealous of the other girls who have straight hair who can dry/iron it so that it doesn’t look like a bird’s nest at the end of the day.
Over the years, I have mastered the art of using various-sized curling irons, flat irons, hot rollers, and even Velcro rollers. However, I can totally relate about the challenges associated with sectioning and blow drying my own hair the way the salon does it.
It requires more patience than I usually have, so I often end up doing a very haphazard job and try to add the smoothness with the Velcro rollers or the flat iron. I’ve often joked that I would love just to be able to take off my head and set it down in front of me so that I could do my hair properly, LOL!
