who just isn't that into Twilight?  Nothing against anyone who is a fan!  To each her (or his) own!  I know it's extremely popular, but it just doesn't do it for me.  I tried reading the books and got through the first two, but wasn't that interested.  The writing was a little boring and the characters just didn't caputre me.  A friend offered the other books to me, but I just didn't feel like investing any more time in it.

Nothing against those who love it, but is there anyone else, like me, who just feels out of the loop?

Me! I haven't read or seen any of it. I honestly have no clue what it is really all about?!! But I have no problem with people who are into it, it's just not my thing.

I read them all, but I thought the only thing worse than the actual writing was the characters. Edward is practically emotionally abusive. If one of my friends or sisters was involved with a guy like that (sans vampirism) I'd be really worried about her. I was a jacob fan, and she downright ignored that Bella and Jacob were meant to be together.

You know, I am going through the exact same thing right now. I resisted for a while reading them (devoted Sookie Stackhouse girl, here), but my SIL convinced me to read them. I read all of the Sookie books in less than 3 1/2 weeks! It has taken me three days just to get to chapter 6 in the first book. I just can't get interested! Does it get better more into the book? I dunno, I think I have been out of high school too long to really relate. AND, I am kind of a vampire purist.. vampires out during the day? Really?

I feel like I'm too old for it, I think I would've liked it when I was in HS.

Also, I watched True Blood first and couldn't help but compare.  I mean, the True Blood vampires explode in sunlight and the lame-o Twilight ones just sparkle?!?

Eh, I can take it or leave it. I watched the first movie & thought it was entertaining. We will probably rent the second one when it comes to dvd, but we won't be breaking down any Blockbuster doors to get one :)

@Mrs. DG, I was wondering if I was too old for it, too. Either that or I think I'm just too practical.  For me, I was reading thinking "okay, so this isn't realistic love.  Like you're a person, he's a vampire.  Where are you going to live?  What are your children going to be?  Half-vampires?  How is that going to work?!"

@DaisyBride: I agree. I feel too old for that kind of stuff too (24). I'm not into True Blood either...Like you said maybe if I was younger, but not now

@Jessie - Thats so funny, you are practical!!  I know how you feel but I can totally accept it on True Blood.

Also, in the first movie, I don't get whey she didn't just tell her dad what was going on, he was going to find out sooner or later!  A lot of the movie was about her leaving town and it was all based on the fact that she wasn't honest with her dad!

Me too. I saw the movie (we rented it from that $1 redbox in the grocery store) and I think it was horrible. FI said he wants the dollar back :). I've heard the books are amazing though and I don't doubt it - the book is always better than the movie.

@ DaisyBride I do too. All my friends are like "Robert Pattinson's so hot" - Uh, isn't he like 12? Wasn't he the kid that died in Harry Potter? LOL

I wasnt into them at first. My friends kept saying that I should read the books but I was saying how I wasnt into vampire and werewolves.

    THEN....

I watched Twilight and I thought I HAD to read the book. After that I was addicted. I read all four books and I am going to see New Moon with one of my girlfriends tonight! i cant wait!

LOL @Jessie I thought the same way when I started figuring out the plot. To me, it's a bit of a literary abomination, but I guess that's because it was only meant to be entertainment. I much prefer Jane Austen.

I didn't read the books, but I hated the Twilight movie.  I only saw it because everyone was making such a big deal out of it.  Not really my thing, and I thought the acting was horrible.  I just don't get why anyone that's not a teenager would be so into it.

I wouldn't go so far as to say I absolutely hate it with a white hot passion but I can't get into it at all. Honestly, I don't understand why people praise the books so much. The story is written in a 2nd grade reading level/format so of course it's easy for everyone and their cousin to read. I felt like I lost a ton of brain cells in reading the books, and the other thing that bothered me about it is that it perpetuates this idea that girls are basically crap if they don't have a boyfriend who takes care of their every need since they aren't capable of having their own lives that don't revolve around a boy. New Moon for example is nothing but Bella trying to commit suicide because Edward won't have anything to do with her anymore. That seriously cannot be healthy so why are parents are allowing their daughters to read that type of thing and essentially permitting the behavior? If people do allow that to go on, we may as well revert back to the 1800s or even the 1950s when women/girls had no rights whatsoever, since everyone seems to be embracing that ideology with this series. Also, I couldn't stand how the author forces her religious beliefs on readers through the characters.

As far as the movies go, none of the kids can act to save themselves, with the exception of the entire rest of the Cullen clan that does not include Edward. Even the adults' acting is questionable. But they're "pretty faces" so who cares about actual talent, right? No one, per usual.

My co-worker & I were talking about this at lunch. She's read the books (and she's not a reader) and LOVES them! I was thinking maybe I should try to read them over my Christmas Break from class, but I would MUCH rather read more Marian Keyes.
Glad to read I'm not alone :)

Right there with you. I loathe all things vampire (True Blood, Vampire Diaries, Interview with a Vampire, etc.) ... but Mr. Lemon LOVES them!

He actually read the books in like a week and ate it up. I won't touch them. I refuse. Blegh. Blood... ick.

I'm with you.  I read the books and liked them, but something about the people they chose to portray the characters in the movie kind of creep me out, so I'm not going to watch the movies, probably ever, lol.  But I thought the books were ok for YA fiction.

I'm laughing at Jessie, because that is SO me.  I'm like, "how exactly is this going to work?, When will they see each other?  How will they make money? Have kids?  This whole thing is doomed so why bother!"

    Just too practical!

Me!  I just don't get it.  I do like True Blood though, and the Sookie Stackhouse books.  I think I'm just out of the target audience for this nonsense.

Also I think Robert Pattinson (sp?) is just NOT attractive.

I haven't tried out the books.  I resisted the Harry Potter books for awhile and ended up loving them though, so I feel maybe I'll get worn down enough with these vampires.  But the Edward character seems kinda moody and Emo, is that how he is?  I haven't been convinced yet to tempt an addiction.

My husband HATES Twilight.  :)  I don't love the Twilight books like they have any literary, social, or intellectual value.  The writing sucks, the plots are completely predictable and the message is totally misogynistic.  I love the Twilight novels like I love trashy tv.  It's so bad, it's good!

I'm so not. The books are terrible. They are like a bad fantasy written by a 13-yearold girl. The plot is cheesy, the characters are annoying and one-dimensional, and the concept is cliche and overdone. I'm so over it.

I agree with whoever said that they are a literary travesty. They are.

And seriously, pregnant with a vampire baby that they name Renesmee? Give me a freaking break.

And since when is stalking someone romantic? If some dude told me he'd been breaking into my house every night and watching me sleep, I'd get a restraining order... not become his girlfriend.

Twilight is my bookcandy.  No important vitamins or minerals, loaded with preservatives and transfats, but so, so delicious.

The True Blood thing baffles me, though.  I mean, I like softcore porn with high production values as much as the next gal, but the show just leaves me cold.

The first time I read it, I couldn't figure out why anyone would hate it. But once y ou read it a second time, and pick up more, you get it. I can see Bella is needy and all that. I totally understand why some people don't like it, and I hated the first movies. = )

ETA: I think Those of you who can sit through this will find this Hilarious! lol.
