I'm with you on this one! I love plain veils! I don't need any beading or lace!
Nope, you're not the only one! Mine is completely plain--just a cut edge elbow-length veil. I like lacey veils, too, but for someone else and with a different dress!
I love the plain veils! I think they are simple, yet elegant & they don't distract from the dress! I plan on getting one myself! :)
Now that you mention I don't think I have seen many brides wear their veils to the reception. So if you want to save money that way just don't wear one after the ceremony.
But I get what you mean about a plain veil, especially if your dress is all blinged out!
Yay!! im so glad im not the only one either, my mom actually offered to hot glue a tiara barrett onto my veil and i was absolutely horrified
@Nicloop I was going to go without the veil at reception but since i bought my fingertip veil off ebay i couldnt return it. and i just decided on chapel veil ummm last night and so i decided i might as well wear them both. and at the reception ill have the bride-y look so im pretty excited about the turn of events
i'm with you!
Mine too! I am doing a cut-edge fingertip! My dress has a lot of detail so I don't want the veil to take away from it!
I'm with you! My veil was very sheer, cut-edge, and chapel length. I tried on every veil in about three bridal shops and hated them all, so ended up making my own. If I wasn't reasonably crafty, I probably would have gone veil-less because everything else I saw was too froofy and poofy and glittery.
Froofy is the word i had been looking for! picking a non froofy was definately very hard, so plain jane is just how i like it.. nice and classic
Nope, I'm a plain-veil-lover too!
Here's my ultimate veil, and a link (in the post) to someone who made one quite similar to it. I'm gonna try to DIY the veil!
That veil is gorgeous FiftyFootBride, i ecspecially love that picture
My veil looked almost like that! It was just a bit more sheer, I think the tulle I used wasn't as wide as hers. I loved mine and I love the one in that photo, too!!
Those veils look the best to me! I can't wait to make one. Also, I just thought of the fact that it'll be good to make mine so that it can be long enough cause, well, I'm 23048 feet tall. Most veils are probably not made for 6'3" girls. :p
plain for me too! I don't even like pencil edge mostly lol 2 tier fingertip length with a cut edge attached to a very plain plastic comb lol I loved it! I almost like wearing it more than wearing the dress! I feel like digging it out now... but I wont lol
The simpler the better! If I wasn't wearing my mom's bubble veil (like a millionty layers) I'd have chosen a simple single layer and removeable blusher.
I love simple veils. A little bit of ribbon trim is just enough for me!
ditto plain and for me whenever it's my turn not even a sew will do, i'll do a drop veil and get a great hat pin and it's a go...
my veil was plain as well, but I don't think it was cut edge...just very simply sewn. I had a chapel length drop veil. then ditched it for the reception. It looked much more elegant w/ my detailed gown.
I agree the plain veils can be so much more lovely than fancier ones. I don't really like a lot of sparkles on veils.
you are definately not the only one! i have a 2 tier fingertip veil. i love it sooo much! i have a very detailed gown (edwina marie) maggie sottero and the veil oesn't tak away from it at all. before i picked out my gown i really wanted a mantilla veil, but alas...it wouldn't be the best choice=(
I'm wearing a 1 tier, cathedral, cut-edge drop veil with no embellishment.
Love the plain ones! I don't even think I'm a veil girl, but if I will be, it'll more than likely be plain.
My veil is edge cut too, with nothing on it. My dress is very lacy and intricate and I feel like a fancy veil would take away from it and be over the top. Simple veils are classic!
Oh no, I LOVE plain veils! I tried on lots and lots of different ones, and I just couldn't get over the plain one. Then again, my dress is very sparkly, and I thought a decorated veil was overkill with my dress, so it depends a lot on what type of dress you have. zippylef & I are veil twins :)
I don't even know if I want a veil!!
But if I do end up wanting one, I'll definitely go with plain! That's the only way I can imagine it.
Mine will be plain, and like 50, I plan to DIY. Which is crazy, really, because it's like the ONLY thing I plan on DIYing! But it just seems so simple...key word = seems haha

My mom is driving me nuts and says my veils are just boring. I dont like the crystals and i havent found a veil with high quality enough lace (that im willing to pay a lot for) that i want. So im doing cut edge chapel veil for ceremony and cut edge fingertip veil for reception.
