I had to take leave but I didn't want to be one of 3 people in the office today.
Yep I'm at work today all day until 5pm. No holiday here :-(
i'm pretty sure there are a few retail ladies on here. As a former retail lady, I have no doubt they are all working, exhausted and tired of people! lol

I'm at work... it's relatively voluntary (I work as a research assistant so I can work whenever I want) but I don't get paid vacay so if I didn't come in, no paycheck for me.
Plus my husband had to work so if I didnt come in I'd just be chilling at home all day and that'd be boring :)
ETA I did come in late and will leave early (10-4 or so with a nice lunch break... :)) so that worked out!
I'm "working". Honeymoon used up all my vacation days :-(
I bet a lot of Bees are working about 12 hours today for Black Friday :P I work 9 later tonight. The joys of retail and food service...
I work till 3:30pm- so at least its not all day. And believe me- I'm thankful to have a such a great job. But everyone else I know is off- appartenly I don't have any friends who work retail!
@couawilou: totally. I got to EAT a second thanksgiving dinner, how come I can't get the days off too? LOL.
Oh I'm here working today too. I got about 3 hours of sleep on Wednesday night (my best friend was in labor and I was there for the birth) and I made it to my parents with my DH just before dinner, and then we went shopping at midnight last night. So last night I only got 4 hours of sleep to. I'm running on NOTHING! :-)
I'm at work .... 3.5 hours to go. I'm the only one here, besides my superivsor, and I'm so bored. I've been online window shopping but we are on a strict budget till the wedding.
@.twist.: lol, same here. At least my work is not busy today, our Head office is in the States which means they are closed YAY! A lot of our customers are gone shopping in the States which means NOT BUSY! hehe
@peaches13: I'm here at work, and DH is at home sleeping in a nice warm bed right now :-( Oh how I envy....
@MsBrewer:I feel your pain...I'm at work till 7 and FI is at home and planning on having a leisurely day of shopping and sitting! So not fair. I better get some good presents out of this! :-)
@Scc6a: I know right! Well I know later on today, DH is planning on playing football with a couple friends of his. You know why I know this? I was planning on him bringing me to work and picking me up so I wouldn't have to pay for parking today, well he said that it would interfere with his football game.....priorities! :-)
Another Canadian at work here! Just think, not far North there is an entire country working away as usual. We'll keep you company! :)
I'm here in my retail shop from 11a-8p :) I'm going to get hammered with shoppers after lunch, I just know it.

@MsBrewer:Haha, I have SO been there with the football thing. Sometimes he'll say, "I can't meet you until 6:30 or 7:00," and I always know it's because he has to see the end of whatever game is on!
I’m working. I work for the corporate office of a retail chain so we need to be here for store support. The thing is, our stores are all far too busy to contact us during the day so the bulk of our issues will come in tonight when they close and we’re long gone. Seems pointless if you ask me but that’s corporate America for ya.
I was at work this morning at 3:30AM. Yep, I just got off.
Time to lie in bed and relax.
**raises hand** I'm here at work from 8-5 today too (and counting down the hours until the weekend!)
DH works today and yesterday. He processes claims, so they are always there for people to call. At least he isn't in retail. He used to have to get up at 3 am for that job! It stinks though. It really stinks.
I'm sitting here on the Bee and working on wedding stuff and I can hear someone in the next component SNORING .. out cold and getting louder as time goes on. LOL i had to share as ... i'm now the only one in my component (supervisor left early)
I am technically working but it isn't my normal 9-5 job. My family also owns a restaurant, so I have to go out there and semi-decorate later for Christmas. We usually just put a smaller countertop tree and then window decorations with the different cling ons.
I'm working but this is the best day to work! The place is empty- I have literally not gotten a single work email or phone call.
Plenty of personal ones though, haha
I'm at work! Until 5pm. And, I keep eating.... leftovers.... needs to stop!
FI is off today. *jealous*
I have a feeling I'll be off for Black Friday next year and he'll be working. Can't win.

I worked this morning. I do laundry at a nursing home. We are not considered essential personnel and always have Thanksgiving and Xmas off. Taking today off is frowned upon. SO hasn't worked on a Friday since 2008. So he gets a 4 day weekend.
I am, but I don't think it counts since it's no holiday up here

whhyyyyy didnt i take today off!?!?!??? im seriously about to revolt and just leave. i have had ONE phone call in six hours... and it was from a coworked asking how does he make himself invisible on gchat.
2 emails -- one from a coworker, one from a client in australia.
i need pajamas and leftovers!
I worked til 1. And it's not even a holiday here. I just got lucky lol ;)
But seriously, how do you all get a day off to go shop??? And why don't we Canadians get one?

My office supports a 24/7 medical facility. So someone had to come to work today and man the place. And since I just got back from maternity leave and have no time accumulated... its me! Luckily the phone has only rang twice in 2 1/2 hrs and I am doing onlince shopping- but I'd rather be home in bed! Are you at work today?
