Aww, they're beautiful. It's not weird when people include their dogs in their e-pics, so I don't see why it would be weird to include your cats. They're your furbabies. They deserve to be included.
Not at all! I didn't get to have mine in our e-pics because we had them done on vacation on the other side of the country... BUT I have every intention of having them in the bridal suite the morning of for some "getting ready pics" :) I say go for it... people who know and love you won't be surprised!
PS, your Salem has one of the guiltiest looks I've ever seen a cat have! Looks like they were plotting the death of your flowers and/or vase lol
I think that's an awesome idea. The only thing that may lessen its awesomeness is that cats may not cooperate or pose the way you want them to. But you're a cat owner - you know this already. Get little Yin and Yang in there.
It's a great idea! Only if they end up like this : (just kidding of course!)

I'm not a fan of cats in photos, but you know what? They're YOUR engagement pictures! If you want those two meowmeow's in your pictures, then by all means, make it happen!
Personally, i really dont like cats & would normally say its weird. But they're your pics & if they're that important to you then go for it!
I think it would be great to have a couple pics with the cats - maybe your FI and you each holding one in your lap? They are adorable - i love that one is all black and the other all white.
I love my three kittehs and they'll be alive for a significant part of my life/relationship so I think they're part of the family! I say go for it :)
You have a couple of very cute cats! I think you should go for it. I probably would have liked to do some shots with our cats, but we did them with our horses instead and I would assume that our cats would be very unhappy to meet our horses!
@Sunshining: They TORE the flowers apart after a few days (was expected) They can't help it! LOL. People who know us well, know we love our cats, so I think no one would be surprised at all that we decided to do it.
Thank you all so much for the kind words! They really are part of our family.
PS. Salem's 3rd birthday is today! (Can't believe it!!! It seems like only yesterday we adopted him at 8 weeks old, very tiny and completely disproportionate!!!!)
Ok first of all they are adorable. Second of all - you are not weird at all! To me, having cats in your pictures is the same thing as people that have their dogs in pictures. They are a part of your family! I would love to have all of our pets in some professional photos, but the 3 to 2 ratio would be difficult to manage for a shoot. I say you should do it!
@Luckygir15: First of all, YAY someone else trained their cats to walk on a leash! Now I can tell everyone who thinks that's weird that I'm not the only one. Lol! Second of all, I don't think it's weird at all to include them in your e-pics, they're adorable and they're part of your family!
And one more thing... Happy birthday, Salem!
@MissBoPeep: I watched a few people on Youtube walk their cats a few years ago... Once we adopted our cats I soon realized it was unfair to keep them strickly indoors, but because we live in a high traffic area I decided to compromise and train them to walk outside with me on a leash and be 100% safe from ever getting hit by a car.
They caught on fast and love their walks!
As others have said, people have their dogs in their e-pics all the time! I don't see why it would be any weirder to have cats.
That's exactly why we trained ours. :) He was an outdoor kitty before we adopted him, but where we live it's not safe for him to be outside, so we take him for walks on his leash and he loves it!
I love my cat but she never cooperates in pictures so maybe take a few of just you and your fiance.
@kaybee: We made them sit on our laps for our wicked funny Christmas cards last year. It was difficult to get them to focus, but doable. I was only thinking of having them in a handfull of photos, then the remainder just my FI and I.
I personally am not a fan of pets in engagement pics.. but since people get away with having dogs, I see no reason why you cant use your cats.
Edited to add- I know people say their pets are part of the family, but mom and dad are family too but you dont include them in your e-shoot
I don't like animals in engagement pics. I don't know why, it just seems a little "Best in Show" to me.
If you consider them family I don't see any reason not to have them in the photo shoot.
The only thing I would be worried about is if your photographer is allergic to cats. If they are allergic they can take an allegra before. I am allergic and whenever people tell me there will be cats I really appreciate it so I can prepare.
awwww, kitties!!!!! I have a soft spot for kitties. oh, heck, who am I kidding? I love animals. :) I even have a bunny!
I say go for it, if you think you can get them to co-operate. I always stand by the saying: You don't own the cat, the cat owns you.
So if you can coax the dynamic duo into posing with you two, go for it!!! They look so sweet and fun. :)
@bells: lol yes but I dont spend every day with my parents nor do I care for them like they are my children!

My FI and I have two cats... A black cat named Salem Spookypants and a white cat named Snowy Snugglepants. We LOVE our "furbabies" and I really want them included in at least some of our engagement photos coming up next month. I've trained both cats to walk on leashes so this should hypotheticly be possible.
My question is....Am I weird for wanting to do this? I understand they're not dogs, and it might be perseved as cooky and whatnot, but we just love our cats and their apart of our family.
