I totally agree with you. She was put through hell and found innocent, so really, I don't see a problem with her recouping a bit from it.
I'm glad she was given a book deal. She deserves a chance to put her life back together financially.
Agreed. She was in a ridiculous situation that ruined a good portion, if not all, of her life, so she deserves to not only tell her story but also to try to help her family's financial situation. Plus I'd like to read it! (It also doesn't hurt that I used to know her step-dad, so I've always been firmly on her side, but even if that wasn't the case I think a book deal would be a positive thing).
I think anyone who has an interesting story to tell has a right to pursue a book deal. We as consumers have a choice whether or not to buy the book so for example I never would have bought OJ's book "If I did it" or whatever it was called.
I would read the book, and thus don't care if her family makes money from it - they went through a nightmare that lasted several years. Guilty or not, they deserve to publish the truth about the story when it is so easily exaggerated in the media.
I want to read the book too! I take all memoirs with a grain of salt though. it will be a good story.
I hope they can recoup their money, they are out over a million dollars, and their daughter lost 4 years of her life. I will definitely read it once it comes out
I don't think she's completely innocent, but she still has the right to publish and write whatever she wants. I wouldn't believe anything she wrote and would never buy her book.
Normally I'd be sympathetic to people who are unjustly accused of crimes, but I'm not convinced at all that was the case here.
I think anyone should be able to write anything... but I won't be buying it.
Someone who has been through all of that definitely has plenty to say. And if people want to pay to read it, they should be able to. I'm kinda interested.
Kind of depends what she says in it for me... If it's the way of OJ Simpson and Rena Chynoweth and others who succesfully got away with murder and then they wrote about it, I disagree cause I think it's in poor taste to rub in that you cheated the system. If it's just a book about her experiences and she maintains innocence, it's probably an interesting story. Either way, she has the right to write it (and help her family through their debt) and I have the right to not buy it.
She was put through hell and lost years of her life. Plus, everyone now knows her name which will drastically change what she is able to do in life moving forward.
If she is able to make money off a book deal to help her family and help get her life back on track (if that's even completely possible), more power to her!
@BonbonBunny: I agree. for me, it's nearly impossible to know what to think. I have trust issues with the media. and of course the book will be her side of the story.
however, I DO want to read it, even if i'm not totally convinced she's innocent. I really like reading memoirs of people who have disasterous lives.

Sorry, there are no users yet.
so I just read this little snippet in the news today:
Some folks have criticized Knox for trying to cash in on her ordeal and the death of her British roommate while others remind readers that her family and friends went into great debt to support her during her trial and incarceration.
personally, I have zero opinion on whether I think she's guilty or not-- between the botched investigation, and news media totally skewing the issue. I just have not formed an opinion either way. however, I do think that no matter what, her family is innocent and they went into debt to help their daughter. I think they do deserve to try to get some money back somehow. I'm not for Amanda getting rich off of it, but her family deserves a break.
anyway, what do you think?
