I agree, I don’t think she did it. BUT I don’t know the whole story.

I feel bad for her too… They are dragging this out WAY to long.

I remember hearing about how the Italian courts would be able to continue to re-try her even after the aquittal.  I feel bad for her that it has to continue to be drawn out.  I don’t think she was involved and she’s already had to give up years of her life to this.

They were discussing this on the radio yesterday. How sad.

I don’t think she did it, but I also don’t think the U.S. will agree to extradite her for what here would be double jeopardy.

Althought the US & Italy have an extradition treaty I don’t believe they will extradite her which is lucky. She won’t go back to Italy and she will never see another day in prison. It must still be so mentally draining for her. She is a strange cat but I don’t think she murdered Meredith.

It’s such a strange situation.  The Italian court stated in the past her alleged “guilt” was due to contradictory statements she supposedly made.  But she was new to the country and new to the language, so she may have signed some kind of statement not understanding exactly what it was she was signing.

I’ve always wondered if maybe she knows more about what happened than she’s ever shared, but I can’t imagine her as the murderer.  None of it makes sense.  I wonder if they have any new evidence that’s real and not concocted.

Edit:  Another thought came to mind.  Perhaps Italy is doing this in light of the fact that Amanda’s “tell-all” book is due for release in April, just a few weeks away.  They may be concerned she’s going to make everyone in Italy involved in her case look very bad.  Also, Amanda recently publicly stated that she “loves Italy” and would love to return there some day.  If she is convicted in absentia  in Italy but the U.S. refuses to extradite her, that’s a tidy way for Italy to keep her out of their country forever.  She’s pretty hated there.

Such a crazy situation, but what get’s me is that there is no DNA evidence of her or her b/f to confirm the did it, but the DNA of Guede was at the crim scene and he’s in jail.

But it seems knox did lie about things and her story changed quite a bit, but IMO, DNA evidence is the only thing you can rely on if you don’t have witnesses.

@missjewels:  Not sure if she did it or not. I highly doubt the US will ship her back to Italy to stand trial again, though.

I watched a documentary about the case a few months ago…I feel bad for her honestly. From what I know about the case, it sounds like the other guy who is in jail now probably had more to do with it than she did.

I just don’t see how they can put her on trial again, there was no physical evidence that she did it and I don’t believe she did.

Italy is going to waste lots of money on another trial, even if they find her guilty again I doubt the US will extradite her because we have the 5th Amendent/Double Jeopardy and she has already been acquitted once, I don’t see how they would extradite her and hope they don’t. Like another bee said, she’ll probably just be banned from Italy and have to stay out of countries that don’t have double jeopardy laws and would extradite her to Italy if she ever visited.

I never felt bad for her and was always very suspicious of her.

@cbee:  Agreed.

I always thought that even if she didn’t do it it’s despicable that she was willing to accuse an innocent man of murder (Patrick Lumumba).

Also even though you don’t understand tha language i think that doesn’t justify giving two or more TOTALLY different statements. I mean a few innacuracies due to trouble with the language ok but there is ahuge difference with saying -yes I know it was Patrick Lumumba, I was there- and then saying -No actually I was at my boyfriend’s house all night I don’t know anything.-

The only people I feel incredibly sorry for in all this is Meredith’s family. I can’t even imagine how terrible it must feel to loose your daughter this way.
