@mscuppycake:  I didn’t have an amateur but it wasn’t as great as we’d hoped. I have no idea if this is the norm when you hire a photographer or if we should have just done more research/paid more money.

We look at a lot of our wedding and engagement photos and just don’t love them as much as we were hoping. 🙁 If I could have a re-do, I would have gone without something else just to get amazing photos. But we just deal with what we have since there isn’t anything we can do about it.

I’m curious what others may have done! 🙂

My MOH took ours and I liked them. She’s never done it before but has a good camera and we were comfortable with her.

We didn’t want to do traditional engagement photos, so our friend took photos with his really nice camera while we were all on a backpacking trip.  I photoshopped them all together into one image for our save the date.  This image quality is kinda crappy but it came out great!

I’ve had a few amateur photoshoots in my life and one professional. The pro is the only one I didn’t feel comfortable and the images were crappily Photoshopped. While I loved the amateur pictures I had, even if the camera was not as expensive, the people who took it had a good eye and I had tons of beautiful pictures to choose from.

We’re definitely going amateur once again for couple’s pictures, AND wedding !

@mscuppycake:  Sometimes I think the biggest difference between professional and amateur, is editing capabilities! A lot of people have a good eye for photography and have a nice camera, but not the software to edit it.

I’m definitely an amateur. This is my first engagement shoot!

Ours was taken by the PhotoPass photographer at Disneyland.  They stress that while these photographers have training they are not professional photographers in the traditional sense of the word.  We went a few different times to different photographers before we got one we liked.  I like the way it is now but my FI wants to clean it up a bit.
