I recently bought a new mascara after seeing how incredible the lashes of two cosmetics girls at the store looked from it, and I have to say, my lashes have never looked so long and curled!

The mascara does a great job of extending the length of lashes, and you can easily build on the thickness/length as well with more strokes (I like my lashes slightly dramatic).

As with any mascara, the full effect takes a few days to kick-in (once enough air is introduced into the tube).

Just wanted to share this product. I'll definitely be buying again!

It's by Benefit, and it's called "They're Real".

Anyone else have experiene with this amazing mascara? I love it!

P.S. It's a little on the pricy side ($30), so if that doesn't work for you, another great one I used before this one was L'Oreal Telescopic. Great for the same reasons, but the L'Oreal makes lashes look a little more thick and a little less long (though it still does a great job at lengthening!).

Sorry for the rambling post! I just like sharing great things!

$22 on amazon and it's prime! I might get it and try it!

Edit: it's got a ton of great reviews!

Ooh, I will have to check it out. I love trying new mascara, and haven't found a favorite yet.

I use Lashblast Fusion by COVERGIRL and I swear it works almost as well as the benefit mascara! I had bought the Benefit mascara before and LOVED it, however the price kinda kick my butt. So I had read online about this COVERGIRL mascara and thought I'd try it and if it didn't work I'd find a way to fork up the cash for the Benefit stuff. Honestly, the only difference that I found was that it didn't make your lashes quite as long as the more expensive stuff, but it was so similiar that the $4.99 I paid for that made me forget about that tiny bit of length I was missing out on!

@Lindsay12.31.2010: There are a lot of crappy ones out there.

So far I've had good luck with 2 Benefit ones (this one being the best), and L'Oreal's been really good in the lower-end price range. I was told by the cosmetics girls that L'Oreal is the closest to the higher-end stuff within the cheaper isle. I used to use L'Oreal's Voluminous for a long time, but I prefer the length given by Telescopic.

    Definitely try Benefit's "They're Real"!

@JM1217: I've never tried Covergirl - good to know :)

I've got to have good length, though. Maybe try L'Oreal Telescopic if you like the length? I got a lot of compliments on my lashes when I wore it, strangely.

I'll have to give that a try.  So far my two faves are Dior Diorshow, and Tarte Lights, Camera, Lashes.  But, I'm loving the Dior more than the Tarte.  The Tarte seemed like it was incredibly hard to get completely off and even when I thought I washed it all off I would wake up with racoon eyes in the morning.

    @wmontano77: Yup indeedy!

@Laura27: It sucks when you can't get it off. I wash my makeup off with a cleanser and have had no problems getting the Benefit one off.

I'm totally hooked on Dior mascara...I have the curling/defining one (Iconic) and the volume/drama one (DiorShow), and I love them both--they're the first waterproof mascaras that have held up to my crying (I am a notorious cryer when I'm emotional).

@BayStateBride: You know what, I thought it would come in waterproof like most others I've come across, but I can't find a waterproof "They're Real" online!... hmm... anyone else know?

Something to consider: This mascara is NOT as sensitive to water as other ones - I can't just rinse it off as easily with water as I could other mascaras - I definitely need to use a cleanser to take it off. So it may be fine for tears?

I think I'll have to try dripping water into my eyes and squinting hard just to see if it'll hold up!

Maybe you other bees with "They're Real" can weigh in?

@BunnyBrideToBe: Are the Dior ones you use also lengthening? Do they really darken your lashes? (I like my lashes to be dark, long, and curled.)

FYI - The Benefit website sells "They're Real" for $22 (instead of it being more expensive at some Drug Stores).

@lumos:  Hmm...  it's just that I have super oily skin so I typically have trouble with anything that isn't waterproof.  But I'm always searching for a new and improved mascara to lengthen my stubby lashes.

@BayStateBride: No matter what mascara I use, I tend to get lines from it on my my skin above my eyes that I have to rub away - is that what you have an issue with? Does waterproof really stop that if it is?

Thanks for the review..I'll have to check it out. I'm always on the prowl for decent mascara...The only one I've ever truly loved was DiorShow (I think it's $25 at Sephora)..have you ever tried it?

@lumos: I LOVE benefit...but can't afford it full time.  I'm gonna try "they're real" ASAP because I thought I was the only person on the planet who bought L'oreal telescopic! That is the best mascara i've ever tried, and I've tried them all!!!

    @BayStateBride: Good to know!

@Mrsgurzakovic: Haha you're funny. Glad to be of help!

@Mrs. Guinness: No worries :) No, I've never tried that one.

@pccl: Yeah, you've got to try it! I loved what Telescopic did for my lashes, but "They're Real" is better for length and way better for curl. My lashes kind of look like doll lashes!

If any of you try it out, let me know how it goes!

(Remember to give it a few days of use like with any mascara.)

I have that mascara and I HATE it. I love Benefit, but that mascara really misses the mark with me. I find it to be way too wet and it weighs down my eyelashes. I much prefer their Bad Gal Lash or Diorshow.

My holy grail mascaras are Buxom Lash and Bare Escentuals' new Curl and Lengthen.  Both are great on their own, but a coat of Buxom and a coat of Curl and Lengthen is amazing!

I was stoked to buy it, I like other products by Benefit.  But I'm sad it doesn't come in brown (or even black-brown), and isn't waterproof.

I work outdoors, so my mascara needs to stand up to torrential RAIN.

@lumos:  I use the Boscia cleanser and I would still find myself rubbing my eyes till they were about raw trying to get all of the Tarte off.  The Dior washes off easier but I've started using an eye makeup remover just so I don't have to rub as hard.  Next time I'm in Sephora I'll have to pick up a tube of the Benefit and give it a try.

@Laura27: Maybe try a different cleanser so you don't have to do that? I use Aveeno Skin Clarifying Cleanser and it's worked really well to take off all the masaras/makeup I've tried.

It's also gentle and doesn't irritate my skin like a lot of other cleansers have.

@Ivorybuttons: Bummer - I hope you find something you like!

@HappilyEverAfter54: I used to use the regular Voluminous mascara (and tried waterproof once) -it made my lashes look a lot more clumpy than yours look - Have you ever tried regular Voluminous? How did it compare to False Lash Voluminous?

@LMD84: Everyone has different preferences :) What do you like to get out of your mascara? I like a good coating on my lashes since I like them to really stand out. I find "They're Real" to actually lift my lashes since the curl it creates is amazing.

I have bought over 5 mascaras over the last few months and was NOT happy with any of them...  I read this post and decided to splurge and order this for myself...  I had to run to the drugstore the one day and low and behold they sold it, so Instead of ordering it online n having to wait for it to arrive, I paid the $29 and bought it on the spot!

All I can say is WOW!!  I love it, it really makes my lashed longer and fuller and the curl on the end of my lashes looks amazing!  I will never boy another mascara again.

This is why I love the Hive! always great advice and product reviews ;)

@farmgirlnfarmboy: So glad it worked out for you!

I think they may have sold me one that had been opened before or something because mine started getting dry after about a week and a half. (They sold me one right off the counter instead of where they are normally sold, so that's why I wonder...)

I ended up going back to the L'Oreal Telescopic after returning the "They're Real", but I may give it another shot after reading your comment :)
