ohhhh that would be sooo great for a destination wedding!!!! sooo romantic!
Yay!!! That's right around the corner from me! We're going to be the smaller variety of wedding, and venues that accomodate that are harder to find. Please post pics if you get the chance! :)
That sounds gorgeous, Bellenga!
I just wanted to add The Strand Theater on the Marietta Square. I was thisclose to having our reception there, until my parents hooked me up with something in a garden. But it's seriously gorgeous, tons of character, reasonable prices, and the event guy, Shane, was really great to work with - very flexible.
It's a recently restored theater with a 30's flair. I really really liked this place. :)
I'm super busy this week Meg, but call them up and ask for Mr. Tam. He'll be glad to show you around! I think you'll be AMAZED!!!!
Btw..MEETUP IS IN A FEW WEEKS!
That theater sounds cool too! What a good suggestion Rocksrgn! Thanks!
We gotta keep our GA gal backs ya know!
This is why I love this place!!!
If we were getting married actually in Atlanta, I'd want to have our reception here. It's so fantastic.
Wow, that sounds awesome Bellenga, thanks for the info. I wish I had known about that barn back in May!! That's what I originally wanted.
I looked at The Strand too, but it was too small for my guest list. We are having our ceremony and reception at The Dallas Theatre, in Dallas. It's also a restored 1930's art deco theatre with an adjoined room for receptions. VERY reasonable, lets you bring your own alcohol and caterer, and the ladies that work there are so nice and accomodating! I don't think the website has great pics, but I'll be posting my own in just a little over two months!! Woooooot!

I have to add this one too... nestled among tall trees, beautiful lake, and vintage cool on a gorgeous mountain lake in N. Georgia

Funny Story related to this building, I was part of a high school theater group who had the privilege of putting on the first play in the theater of the old schoolhouse after it was remodeled. The reason I mention this is because the dressing rooms behind the stage are a great place for the bridal party to get ready or even freshen up before the reception.I am showing a picture of the remodeled theater upstairs to see a representation of how much character the building has! This building has so much charm and history to it; and the food at Tam's is awesome! Great Recomendation bellenga!

Yesterday by accident when I went to a cocktail party for the club I'm a member of!
It's literally in my backyard of Cumming GA. No pics are of the restaurant on the internet but I may go back and take some after meeting with the owner/manager!
It's called Tam's Backstage which is adjacent to the Cumming Playhouse. It's a historic building which was the very first school house in the entire county. It has been lovingly restored and is a playhouse (great play I might add) and has a restaurant in the rear with amazing food and looks great. What the SECRET is, is that there are upstairs several event rooms (named and themed after famous plays such as Phantom of the Opera and A Midsummers' Nights Dream) and amazing 3d wall murals (paint and iron) and antique bar areas and it's just fabulous!
The other secret are the GARDENS out back! And lemme tell you. These gardens kick the arse of one famous historic wedding venue/house I saw when a friend of mine married recently. These gardens put it to shame!!!
The prices are good. Very very reasonable. You pay for a certain amount for the food and I think the rooms will come for free for the event areas! A few have married here, but you have to be somewhat "in the know". I met the manager/owner and told him about us "bees" and he was excited! No pics of the rooms or gardens on the internet but I might take some myself very soon to show here or on my blog! The event venue at the restaurant and gardens is for about 75 or less btw. PERFECT for an elegant yet cost-effective intimate wedding!
The manager also has access to a farm nearby (absolutely gorgeous place) with a beautiful barn overlooking a lake which he said can be used for events also!
So who's got your back? MEEEE! :)
