So today was amazing. My boyfriend got a job and is going to be moving here in 2 weeks! Right now he lives only 2.5 hours away which is closer than we’ve been at any point during our relationship with the exception of about one month when we were still in high school. Backstory: we are high school sweethearts and he went to college in Florida and we’re from Ohio. I go to school on the other side of the state from where we grew up and he lives with some friends.
This May, we will celebrate 7 years together and my (finally) college graduation. (Changing majors pushed me into being a 6th year senior.) Over Spring Break the first week of March, I got a post-grad job in my field in the city near where I go to school. So for a month he’s been looking for a way to get up here too. Last week he visited and went on a casual interview for a company that his friend works for a different branch. Basically they told him they didn’t have a position open, but when they did he would be considered the top candidate.
Today he got a call—he was offered the job! Needless to say by my excitement he accepted and will be moving in to my apartment in 2 weeks. Then we can actually start searching for an apartment closer to the city that’s dog friendly (since right now my drive to that area is about 35 minutes and his might be closer to 40 or 45 AND his puppy cannot live at my apartment so in the meantime he’s going to live at his mom’s house).
Another hurdle we’re finally getting over? The day I had my job interview for the job I got was when my Dad finally decided (or was swayed by my amazing stepmom?) that my sweetie and I should live together before we’re married. Before he didn’t approve. He went so far to say that he would have no part in paying for a wedding if we decided to do that (huge bummer since we both have significant student loan debt). And suddenly…he now not only approves but thinks we SHOULD live together, since we’ve been long distance for so long. Not like I haven’t been begging him for 5 or so years….ha!
Anyways hive, I just wanted to say I’m so excited that things are finally coming together for me…I hope things are going well for you too! And for all of you waiting, I’m right here with you. One hurdle was jumped today and I can see the finish line….perhaps graduation day? I’ll keep you posted!
